Forums - Nintendo - UPDATE - Nintendo Begins Distributing Software Kit for New NX Platform

Not worried about the launch window. Moving Zelda to the NX launch window buys them all the time in the world, and EAD Tokyo is due for another Mario platformer for late 2016/early 2017 too ... so that 1-2 punch basically would be enough with the usual other types of games (like 3rd party ports) to ensure a very strong launch.

New 3D Mario is very likely launch game, Mario 3D World was finished in 2013, 3 years is more than enuf for 3D Mario game.

They just had to troll us with "industry leading specs" dammit. I remember when OG Wii was supposed to make us say "wow" with the graphics.

Now If Nintendo released dev kits in 2016 I'd be a little more optimistic, but 2015...I suppose they could give powerful 28nm kits, within the ballpark of the final product locked down in the much more power efficient 14/16nm... but I have my doubts lol Nintendo never had a console that consumed power over 50w.

Even with power with 50W Nintendo can make pretty strong hardware in 2016, remember Wii U launch i 2012. and has only 30W power consumption with 64nm.

It was 40nm gpu/45 cpu for U.

Anyway, I'd love to stop talking about power, because the whole point of "Fusion" is it doesn't rely on certain 3rd party standards, but the topic doesnt seem to go away.  Nintendo simply will not compete when there are two other major companies going that route, and will try to be different & undercutting/cheaper.  I'd love for Ninty to be competitive, but it doesnt seem to be in the cards as of now, and reporting things like "industry leading specs" only adds fuel to the wet dream that only leads to a sad awakening lol.

Yes, 40/45nm, but my point still stands.

Yeah they could probably make the day 1 window, but if you have Zelda there already ... perhaps it might be a better idea to space them out so there is no post-launch lull ... Mario could kill that instantly. Not a bad luxury to have.

Minimum!? $299 will be maximum of home console price, PS4 is curently at $350 and Xbox One will soon probably go on $300. I say NX home console price $249-299.

I highly doubt it'll be that cheap.

I highly doubt it will be expensive, Nintendo will want to make most affordable console and certainly can't be more expensive than PS4/XboxOne, at end of 2016. XboxOne will have max $299 price.

no more NX rumors, although this one looks interesting

Again, NX is about combining handheld and console. Combine 3DS and Wii U first party libraries and you can have an ideo of what NX is. Third parties doesn't matter a lot. NX is 2016 and everything about the theory of Fusion is becoming reality. Just accept it and move one.

Monster Hunter and Youkai Watch aren't important?  It would be interesting to see Nintendo tell third-party developers and publishers that they have Fusion now and don't need anyone else.  That would be quite interesting.

Western. DQXI & FFXIV are already announced for NX. And, where else are they going to develop MH or YW? Vita? Come on.

$299 premium or basic?  IIRC the 299 wii U was not that popular and $349 was deemed to expensive.  NX launching at 249/299 makes more sense, I think its key to stay under $300 regardless of the bundle offer.

Eh, I don't buy it. I still think it'll be between $300-$400. Short of some weird voodoo magic, I don't see how they'll possibly get the system that cheap with what we know about it. We know it'll have a gamepad, and we know it will be powerful enough to handle DQXI. It'll definitely be cheaper than usual because it won't have a disk drive, but that's not getting the console down to $250. With the gamepad, it's got to be $300 minimum to make sense, and even that's a severe stretch.
