Toxy said: That being said; 1TB models are definitely necessary. It has become common for a game to have a 10GB patch, which adds up if there are multiple patches across multiple games. That and if you are going to download titles as well - you will need to eventually upgrade to an external hard drive if you are a serious gamer with the 500GB model. |
I think it would do gamers good if they don't look at the internal HDD in these consoles in the traditional sense of a HDD and rather as something put into them to ensure the efficiency of the consoles.
The primary reason of having a HDD in these consoles isn't to store data per say, but to make games load as fast as possible being that a HDD reads faster than a disc drive. This is why all games even physical ones are installed on the hdd
It would have been nicer if they came with 1/2TB outta the gates, but even that is unreasonable being that putting in 1TB in the consoles in 2013 would have cost them at least $15 more than it would have going with 500GB. it may not sound like much, but when deals are being made to make over 20Mil consoles it adds up fast. especially when that money could have gone to more essential and inflexible components like RAM or processors. They can always change what hdd is in a console, you can't change its apu or ram.
