This notion of "parents" picking consoles is... absurd. I'm sure it happens, rarely. But parents don't just buy little Johnny what they want. They buy what HE wants. They're not going to get an Xbox One for a kid who wants PS4 and visa versa because as soon as he opens it, he's going to freak the hell out.

Have you ever been to a store during black friday? It's literally filled with parents. I remember last year at my local Best Buy during Black Friday and Gamespot that it was parents that were buying consoles. While at the Gamespot it was just non parents buying just games. A huge point of black friday is to buy Christmas gifts.

Yes... parents who KNOW what their kids want lol

Why do you think they wait for Black Friday? For better deals and cheaper prices. Sometimes it doesn't matter what the kid wants.

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

Home console market has changed a lot. Taking market share is not top priority. Making a good profit is top priority.

Well when I had a PS2, I got a spontaneous gift of XBox and Gamecube during the holidays. I had no input, and is likely that I would have chosen $300 of games.

But my parents were the ones buying not me.

Microsoft's top priority has always been Holiday, that's all they've cared about since this gen.

For sure. They love sending out press releases about winning Black Friday, so I would expect some nice discounting starting right around then.

Was expecting mega discounts before Black Friday anyways. They are obvious expecting ROTR and Halo 5 to be the reasons people pick up an XBO

1. Home console market is crowded.

2. Whatever Microsofts goal was in past they have changed strategy. So do Sony. Making profits is now top priority.

All companies know better make profit rather than making loss or negligible profit. Microsoft dont want to devalue in the holiday their console like they did in 2014.

They need to work with 1st parties because all 3rd wants marketing deal or bundles with PS4.

This is their weakness and has been since day one. They did not even create Halo and their games don't have original engines like Sony and Nintendo games do so they lack unique feelings.
