Forums - Website Topics - Let everyone know how credible VGChartz is

Hey guys.  I've been visiting VGChartz for a while now and, like most of you, love the sales data.  I get really discouraged when I see VGChartz being bashed on various websites saying that our data is not accurate.  I wanted to make a thread that will make a difference.  This can only work if you guys help though.  I know VGChartz does not have spot-on data, but it is pretty darn good for free, weekly data.  Sometimes VGChartz may be off, but the sales are always corrected to reflect an accurate number.  So how do you think we should get the word out?  Any ideas?

Here is a start I guess.  Digg up the Methodology page.  I'm open to any other suggestions.

Well VGCHARTZ is not 100% accurate the same for NPD..

What sucks is when you see somebody on another forum and you recognize their username as a poster here. There are plenty of people here who don't neccessarily antagonize the mods/ioi and keep quiet until they get elsewhere and start spreading their opinions about how BS vgchartz is.

Yep.  Everyone just assumes NPD is more accurate because they get paid to put out the data and have bene doing it for so long.  They also have a larger sample size which helps.  The most important thing to note is that NPD estimates just like VGChartz.

It's not an assumption, it's a fact, NPD collects around 60% of data while VGC does less than 10%. Sure, both uses the same method, hence why NPD is still the most respectable number out there.

VGC numbers aren't bad, but is it as credible as NPD's number? Well, not really.

It's like comparing 2 countries, just because one is better than another, it doesn't mean the other country just automatically sucks.

the site is fine for what it is a fan made sales site

i think that the problem is when people try to say that vgcharts data is as credible as npd data and thats a mistake ,at least for now, when the diference in the sample is still this big 60 versus 10 per cent
