Ironically games that dont even set out to be horror titles, LSD (PS), Shadow tower (PS), Shadow tower 2 (PS2) things like that.

I find games are most effective at setting a tone when they arent all out trying to do so.

For me it's Metroid Prime 2. I know the game isn't creepy or anything, but exploring Dark Aether at midnight with no lights on created a great atmosphere for me to enjoy.

The Valhalla spaceship in Prime 3 also had a great "creepy" atmosphere/mood. I like how they went into detail on how the space pirates & GF troopers died. One even has a blade in his gut. Or the bodies that disintegrate when you touch them. That's when you know there are metroids. :p

And now we have chibi GF troopers. Sigh...

im nearly convinced publishers, platform holders and developers have unanimously decided to ruin everything good that came before.

The scares always feel unearned and cheap because the genesis of the scares come from being suprised and caught off guard rather than from a genuine feeling of terror.

To be fair, though, they're designed to help the moderation team by not having the forum get clogged by an obscene amount of threads about a new game or a system.

Almost makes me wonder why there isn't an official "NX SPECULATION" thread.

There is one, but people feel the need to make a new thread for NX every 6 minutes
