Forums - Gaming - Motorstorm Arctic Edge for PS2 was released in late 2009

My mind has been blown once again by another PS2 fact. Almost 10 years in its lifecycle a popular solid AA series game released which was not FIFA. I will chek it out, I like Motorstorm.

Eh.

Cool I guess.

Was mostly a psp game I thought just came to the ps2 a bit after launch.

Great game tho, seeing the back cover talking about 2 player split screen makes me sad that it was possible on a 333mhz PS2 but less so now for online play only stuff on Ps4/X1

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Even in 2010 there wad one"AA" game released on the PS2 ( There were also the usual slew of sports titles and movie tie-in games )

Shattered Memories is a Wii game.

That PS2 port was because it flopped on Wii and retool it for the HD twins would've been too expensive.

Meh, the PS3 and Xbox 360 get more "AAA" games than the PS2 did when it was 9 or 10 years old.

Yeh, except they are like 10 times more powerful. They could have their FIFAs in 2030s and it wouldn't impress me at all. PS2 was ancient retro technology in 2009.

Meh it could do 480P in most games ( If devs tried to anyways ) that was enough to keep it on par with the wii in terms of horse power not to mention is sold twice as much as the X360 and PS3 so the fact that it got FIFA 14 shouldn't surpise anybody ( Also if last gen consoles get FIFA's in 2030s I would be very impressed just saying ).

Although Wii was the lead platform, the PS2 and PSP ports were only a month behind, which is nowhere near enough time to go "wait, sold like crap, put it out on something else!". It was a simultaneous release in Europe for example on all 3 platforms.

As for the OP, loved Motorstorm Arctic Edge on PSP. I also thought the whole PSP/PS2 multiplatform release strategy was pretty good. I'm really disappointed that Sony didn't opt to do that with the Vita (doing Vita/PS3 releases).
