Forums - Gaming - PS4 keeping publishers alive.

PS2 days were essentially an onslaught. If Microsoft did not enter the game and money hat some games with Xbox, it would have been even more savage.

Well for that reason we can be thankful for Microsoft.  They also helped the industry grow during the recession when Sony was charging 600 for their console.  If Sony was the only option, developers would have suffered.

Publishers and develpers get less revenue with disc sales than digital.

If anything PS4 is keeping alive is Amazon and its mailmen.

Also interesting that this list has no corelation with official figures given by industry analysis. That is the dangerous of looking to much into Amazon chartz.

"PS4 is keeping publishers alive globally in the US" is what this thread should be titled.

edit: In case this joke wasn't clear enough, the PS4 isn't "keeping publishers alive" since the only data this person provided was from the US, which means nothing if it's just a single place. But surely enough there will always be threads like this where people praise the PS4 for absolutely everything, including things it hasn't done.

You can't just base it on Amazon. What about digital sales? For PC, that's huge. And I don't know about anyone else but I also buy more digital stuff on handhelds than on console. I reserve consoles for AAA stuff mostly, which I buy physically.

Also, if you go to Japan, the advance flips onto Nintendo over Sony.

I agree actually. Competition is awesome for gamers.

You mentioned an exclusive and several titles that have been on PS for a long time (franchises that have been longer on ps than on xbox) ......not sure if serious?

So does that mean the 360 kept the whole industry alive? Almost every game sold and performed better than the ps3 versions.

yes, its right. and japanese producer like one console and thats is the ps4 too.

I don't think you remember the PS2 days.
It's more like the PS1 days, the PS2 days were basically a monopoly.

I always said this generation was going to be a repeat of the PS1 era.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

1. Nintendo – 32,1%
2. Level 5 – 11,9%
3. Square Enix – 11%
4. Bandai Namco – 10,7%
5. Konami – 5,3%
6. Capcom – 4,9%
7. Sony Computer Entertainment – 3,1%
8. GunHo – 2,3%
9. Spike Chunsoft – 1,8%
10. Marvelous – 1,5%

Level-5 is second thanks to Yo-kai Watch on the 3DS. Capcom is sixth thanks to Monster Hunter on the 3DS.

Square-Enix's best selling game in Japan this year is a 3DS port of Dragon Quest VIII.

The PS4 market amounts to practically nothing in Japan.

and... ? the ps4 has more than ca. 50 japanese games 2016 and the wiiu ? maybe 8 or something xD with west-game more than 100 games for ps4 next year. look the IGN-statistic. that is important.

the future for producer is the PS4. Software & Hardware.
