Forums - Microsoft - What is the next videogame ip that Microsoft will acquire?

Silent Hill for one billion dollars

I could get behind a new IP and a new development teams much more than another buyout. One brings in more games, the other just eliminates choices.

They should buy Remedy, then they should look for developers who are able to make games using MS's own IPs,and like Vasto said make new IP's.

Your incorrect ...

Respawn Entertainment is the one that owns the IP ...

OT: I can see Microsoft buying Respawn Entertainment but I'm guessing the former is waiting for the latter to test out the waters of whether or not the IP is a dud ...

That is true. They might want to test it out with 3 games like the gears of war series and see if it still holds up.

Except it won't be the same as gears because TF2 is coming to PS4. And it won't happen because it would cost waay to much money since PS4 has a huge market share.

Titanfall sold 10 million alone on the Xbox 360/1 and PC so I can't see why the franchise wouldn't be able to live on Microsoft's ecosystem ...

That number including things like the free 2 play weekends. It wasn't the number of actual sales. Your point still holds true.

As protendo said, that number means nothing. These days number of units mean nothing because of PC sales.
And I think that 10 million was for people played, not units sold.

It still sold above 4.5 million copies according to this site's data and even more if we count digital sales for PC ...

Again I can't see why the IP couldn't live on Microsoft's platform alone as Protendo pointed out that my argument would still hold true ...

Buying another shooter game would be pointless and I don't want them to buy Remedy because they would ruin them like they did Rare and Remedy should be developing for other platforms like they used to.I agree about them creating their own franchises, which is why the X1 is in the state that it is in now.

Because PS4 would bring the devs more profit and it would eleminate the PC fanbase so why would Respawn want to be in that situation? If they wanted to be purchased than EA would have already bought them and Respawn gain nothing from being exclusive to any platform.
