Forums - Microsoft - Is microsoft in the beginning of the end of their console cycle?

Well they are underselling in pretty much every region except USA and UK. Long term, USA and UK is not enough to hold xbox one's relevance.

Proof?

That's really interesting, because I heard the same thing about the 360 only sold in the US and the UK and that sold 90 Million, which is weird because if you combine NPD with Chart Track LTD's you only get around 55 million. I guess MS must have sold 35 million consoles in Japan rite?

I annotated the screen to highlight the read data but:

1. in the launch holiday period xbox one killed it compared to the 360.

2. in the first full year xbox one was losing ground to 360 thoughout the entire year until ms pulled out a massive holiday sale.  that allowed it to pull ahead for the year.

3. in the second year xbox one has been losing ground to the 360 quite quickly.  that last point of data for xbox one will clearly go up by the end of the year but right now xbox is behind 360 for the year by 5 million units.  at the end of the year that gap will likely be between 1 to 2 million in favor of 360.

so yes, xbox one has sold more than 360 if you take a snapshot in time where you simply count the number of weeks since launch.  but when you see how the curve looks where xbox one took and early lead and has since been losing ground means "xb1 is not doing as strong as MS tries to spin it all things considered".   i mean, the 360 didn't have a great launch at all.  it only did as well as it did because it manage to peak in it's 6th year instead of the standard 2nd or 3rd something i highly doubt will be true for xbox one.

Sorry, this is proof? I hope you're joking.

all that work and it was completely defeated by the "finger in ears" defense.   bravo sir.  xbox one is certainly going to be the top selling xbox console now...

Well I gave you the opportunity to disprove a sales comment from the head of Xbox and you responded with VGChartz figures.....

Ok lets break it down then, using Microsofts official shipments for Xbox 360 as data

Xbox 360 ships 17.7M consoles by end of 2007

Less Q4 2007 data (4.3M) means September 30 2007, Xbox 360 was at best 13.4M consoles shipped.

According to you, 360 is 5M ahead of the ONE in year 2 that would make Xbox Ones life to date shipments, 8.4 million as of 2 days ago. lol?

Since you have faith in VGC, which says XBO has sold through 13.9M (so shipments would be higher right)...well either you are wrong by a whopping 5.5-6.5 million margin of error, or VGC is wrong and you - using their data - are incorrect by proxy.

It also conflicts which the date they announced the 10 million milestone, their combined Xbox shipments being over 2.5M in Q1 & 2 year vs the 360s . 1.2M in 2007 and Microsofts comments about it outpeforming the 360...but there it is.

Those are a lot of really good points. Too many people are unwilling to even consider that it's a possibility.

easily accessible data completely backed up by with shipment data ms provides even though they try their absolute best to obscure the data so no one can inspect the data too closely.  and for good reason too.  if no one can see the data spencer can make a chart like this:

and then say,.  grey is bigger than orange!  xbox one is the fastest selling xbox console ever!!!

but the data really looks like this:

which isn't such sunshine and roses.

xbox one is outselling 360 until that day it isn't at which point you have to ask,.. where did that million+ lead they once had go?

Basically eventually Xbox and Windows 10 will be the same platform, they are just planning on how they can sell it without killing the xbox off.

I think MS is targeting PC gamers by trying to make it to where an xbox can play the majority of PC games and some xbox games can be played on PC. I doubt that MS will pull out of the console business. They're just changing how they are approaching it. So far what they've done with their consoles isn't getting them much of anywhere.

well MS rather spend ton of $$ then admit they lost the race

and

Phil Spencer will continue to talk and talk and claim he dont like competition
(but behind the curtain he will continue to secure (with $$$) game exclusive (tomb raider) coz he know he MS got no game to match Uncharted)

IMO

hope MS will take different route soon coz competition that what make each console bring they best!

Extrapolate that difference over a further 8 years that's another 23.76 million consoles. 110+ Million Xbox Ones.

They tried to kill used games.

Their most successful console.

Nintendo will not have the handheld market.

Sony will have no money.

Patience is a virtue.

Let's use your math for the PS4, just to show how ridiculous it is:

Ps4 will have likely shipped around 35 million by the end of this calendar year, so 17.5 million per year.

17.5*8=140 million

Do you think the PS4 will sell 140 million? Lol.

Not to mention that I doubt the XBO will have shipped 25 million by the end of this year.

Also Sony aren't losing money anymore, but it seems you don't really care about facts like that.
