Just for fun, if you had to choose, what would you rather buy, a 249$ PS4 or a 99$ PS3?

If you don´t already have a ps3 you should definitely buy it for such a low price (it has a shitton of great, unique and very affordable games). However...old games old! So I´d get the $249 PS4 ^^

Oh man tough question. But honestly I would have to go with a $99 PS3. Mine is starting to show it's age big time. It's not like I will never get a PS4 but I feel like it isn't quite time yet.

I already own a PS3 so the obvious answer is PS4. But if I didn't, PS3 would offer better value at that price. PS4 still has relatively few games not available on previous gen consoles.

Unless I've missed something, actual PS3 emulation is probably never going to take off due to its exotic architecture. I'm assuming you mean streaming, but that's not emulation. Emulation is when you, well, emulate another system's functionality on another system. Streaming isn't emulation, it's just streaming.

However, if I had neither, a PS3 for 99 definitely, because of it's large game library.
