Which of the big 3 are gonna stop hardware manufacturing first?

Sony's Playstation 32 11.00%

Nintendo 54 18.56%

XBOX 205 70.45%

Total:291

I don't want to think about that.

Hopefully none of them.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I'd say XBox. Nintendo will fight to keep their business for as long as possible (which is a very long time) and Playstation is probably Sony's best asset so they won't back out unless the entire company goes backside up. Microsoft will stop once they lose interest or once they feel like they have something more efficient.

My prediction would be Xbox leaves the console market and Nintendo, depending on how well nx does could go purely handheld.

Add me if you want but let me know youre from this website

Nintendo definitely ain't dropping anytime soon.

Between Microsoft and Sony, consoles are probably more important to Sony right now.

I'd probably have to say Microsoft.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

None will stop making home consoles

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Microsoft is supporting two platforms, one of them being an all-in-one OS that already has XBL support.
I should know this, I'm a Windows Phone user!

Sony wins home consoles by default. PS is also their best-performing division.

Nintendo is stuck having to make their own hardware, for better or worse. Worst-case scenario, they go back to just making playing cards and hanafuda.

Using which metrics exactly ? Financials is their best by far.

Sony home consoles are indeed the strongest brand since they started, but Nintendo might be more stubborn in case of console apocalypse as it's their only business with handelds.  Also Xbox would probably continue wheter it's profitable or not as long as consoles are still a thing.

My money is on Nintendo stopping home consoles first ad Microsoft stopping all consoles business first. I can see a gen with only a home console from sony ad an handeld from Nintendo and VGC forums betting on which will be the most unpopular.

Ummmmm what? Try 6th best performing division.

I'd say Nintendo first, due to how competitive the hardware space has become and the fact they could go software creation only relatively easily.

I think it would be a lot easy for Sony and MS to make set top boxes, fire stick like devices, micro consoles, steam box like devices, game orientated phones etc. Which could sustain them in the game hardware market for quite some time in my opinion.

Nintendo needs it, Sony is winning money with it. MS could stop the Xbox and focus on PC without any issue (it could even be better for them).

So I'm voting for MS.

I was thinking in terms of growth, in both revenue and profit. Unless I'm wrong, of course.

I was under the impression it was performing really well.
