Success because I hope so.

I find there's three types of people when it comes to VR

Those in support of it, tried it and loved it
Those in support of it, not yet tried
Those against it, not yet tried

I've yet to find a person that was still against VR after actually trying it, the worst I ever heard after someone tried it was comments on the screen door effect and uncomfortable use with glasses, both in regards to Rift DK1, both of which have long since been resolved.

It'll never be very big. It doesn't really had anything to an experience except a weird and uncomfortable head gear.

I find comments like this frankly laughable, though not entirely surprising since the majority of people who comment against the tech haven't actually experienced it for themselves and (usually) don't have a solid grasp of what the technology even is.

It's here to stay. It will start off slowly, but will gain popularity at a steady pace as people show it to friends and the tech becomes better and more affordable.

It's not longer headache inducing or thousands of dollars of specialized head gear, it is ready for the masses this time. It won't replace console gaming, just a new form of entertainment next to it.

The comparison to stereoscopic 3D is flawed. That doesn't allow new gaming possibilities and never really had any special games made for it. Yet it always had a steady presence in PC gaming since the 90's. VR can do so much more but will live or die by the software made for it. So far it's looking good, bar some nonsense like streaming xb1 games in a VR theater.

+1

I hope and know its a failure

VR is not for gaming its more for show than anything else.

would love to see a discovery channel program with a VR headset that would work really well..

I doubt it will make a dent. In fact I thinks it's more likely to flop than to be a success. Nobody wants to sit around looking like an ass with such a large block on their heads. Maybe because of the novelty people will try it at least, but once curiosity is satisfied...

Indeed it will do good. People who are badmouthing VR are as clueless as they come.

Hunting Season is done...

Failure for sure

The vr will not win nor fail. It will be there and depending how it evolves it will either vanish or become even better. They ask to much money for the thing. It will be a big test to them.
