I think it is normal for "special" colours to be priced higher with Sony produce, the silver and the pink versions of PS2 slim are still £10 more than standard black here in UK.

| smbu2000 said: Looking at the price, the package costs about 3,000 yen more than the cost of a 40 gigabyte PS3 and the MGS4 Special Edition. |
I think that the bundle will be a failure in Japan.
I thought that the bundle heading for Japan was the 80GB model like the US is getting?

Got some Haterz around here.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Is this the most expensive PS3 game in Japan? Hopefully they don't translate those higher cost to the US. Not surprising though, with higher development costs comes higher prices, wasn't the 360 games $50 when it first came out and went to $60 a year after?
| starcraft said: I think given the expense of the PS3, it is safe to assume that 99.9% of the fanbase is hardcore. Konami have simply concluded that for a game like MGS4, the hardcore will pay what they have too, and as the system has no casuals, they don't have to worry about it until the userbase expands and then they'll drop the price. Konami is screwing gamers, but it makes good business sense. |
Hahaha. So much for everything you say being based on fact. You are nothing but a fanboy.

I don't know about the pricing for games at retail stores in Japan. We may need Japanese members here to provide some information.
But, if you go to Amazon.com, you will find popular games normally get very generous discounts (19-24%), even for the special edition version.
I predict the price for MGS4 and MGS4 bundle will get 24% and 5% discount, respectively, after Amazon opening the pre-order for this game. So the pricing should be close to: 6688 yen, 7448 yen, and 49210 yen.
Wii Fit is a different story, I only saw it receiving a small discount (~5-6%) once. Now it's back to full price again. I don't expect Wii Fit will ever get bigger discount than that because it should be considered as "hardware".

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Suddenly, we start to think video games in Japan are pricey.
When the exchange rate was 120 yen : 1$, everything there was so darn cheap.
I remember seeing people here complaining why video games in US are so pricey :)
I guess I will stop buying games directly from Amazon.com.jp for a very long time.
I blame Bernanke and Bush!
