When I hear about VR and Microsoft, I don't think about Hololens at all because Hololens is not VR, it's Augmented Reality, a very different thing. Could be great if "journalists" were able to get their facts straight.

Actually, given the quite narrow Field of View it seems MS decided to rename it "mixed reality":

https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-hololens/en-us

"We call this experience mixed reality.". It makes sense, I suppose. lol

Yep, but I don't think the narrow FoV changes the technology. You still see the reality with added elements thanks to the glasses, like the Google Glass for example. This is the definition of Augmented Reality IMO.

"Mixed reality" is just a marketing term used to look more innovative. In any case, nothing close to VR (VR doesn't involve the "real" reality ^^).

Yay!!! Free VR head units!! 😀

Just like all other M$ cellphone applications, look for an iPhone or Android version with better features and functionality in the near future. 😆

if we are talking strictly inhouse made apps... MS does easily better than google and apple in almost any front they touche... Those are the fast food junk devs of the industry....

but if we are talking about VR kit google already has its own with google cardboard https://www.google.com/get/cardboard/

Just as long as nobody makes games with it. Other wise the big PS will strike the down with his almighty wrath.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I just recently tried some, I think Samsung VR, it was really neat. I also thought View Masters were cool as a kid.

The thing does get rather heavy after a bit, still it was really fun.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

So how the hell are you going to control the game if you are holding a phone which is inside a cardboard box to your head?  Tilting would be about the only thing you can do.

Could be done through Bluetooth controllers or even smartglass from Xbone. Once Continuum is out, you will have plug and play features with PC components. Would be like a PC on your head.

How many hands do you have? Seems she ran out of them holding the cardboard box...

Yeah, she's a n00b. She should have duct taped it to her head. 😪
