Forums - Nintendo - Is a 100 dollar price drop realistic for the Wii U this year?

$100 drop is asking too much to Nintendo, but that's the price point I will buy the console at

No one wants it at $300, no one will want it at $200. Similar to how the GC was at $99 throughout half of its life and sold less than both of its competitors regardless

I wouldn't put GC/Wiiu at the same level. No one wanted the GC but I'm pretty sure a good amount of people are not buying WiiUs cause it's not worth its current price

The best thing they should do is add a free digital game with the purchase of any premium pack (super mario maker or smtxfe) to choose from (tw101, bayonetta 2, captain toad, pikmin 3 and maybe some bigger games like splatoon) they could also add an amiibo for the ocassion and sell it for $249.99 and that would be a perfect bundle.

I don't think there will be a price cut this year. I see them pushing some splatoon/mario kart 8 bundles.

Probably not. Nintendo hasn't given any indication that they are looking to drop the price.

They need to at least do $50 for the holidays, with some major promotions and a new bundle deal.

Japan is getting....two games?

I think it's...three? Mario Tennis, Animal crossing Amiibo Party and FEXSMT

There is also the Yokai watch dancing game.If im not mistaken, it is also releasing this year in japan for wii u

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well, I think nintendo isn't going to drop the price of the wiiu because even a 100 dollar drop won't make it sell. So why do it at all? If they sell 3 million at 300 bucks, why sell 3.1 million at 200? No price drop is coming.

THIS.

It doesnt make any sense. The boost wouldnt be significant enough to make up for the lower revenue.

Yes it will happen since the holiday line up isnt as strong anymore.

That is why it needs to big, make some sort of splash that people will notice. At least maybe for Black Friday. But 50-75 seems like a waste of time. They need a boost that last from November to January on top of the Holiday boost they will already get.

They could also go the "more value" way.

Instead of just 50-100 pricedrop.. "WiiU/Gamepad/Nintendoland  and Mario maker or Splatton splatoon bundles.. sold for (lets say) 279$

(Few $ for 32G more memory.. and mayby even a better gamepad (could just be a litle better battery and/or screen and/or minimal design change)

If we look at 3DS.. they did cut the price.. But when it comes to WiiU.. I think its better for them just to be a litle cheaper than PS4/One.. and instead add as much "value" to the "box" as posible.
