There is one prediction we have to give him credit for and that is
the WiiU is FAIL.

Its bigger because the wii was a last gen-casual device. All 3 consoles are currentley stronger than its predecessors and sell more than PS360, thats all what matters as a hardcore gamer.

Hope Xbox get another gen iteration

Well, Sony certainly does know better than Pachter at least ...
| KBG29 said: Well I would say Pachter is 50% right based on what Shu has said. Sony has given up on making mobile platforms, so that market went from 80M to 15 -20M to 0. On the other hand, PlayStation 4 should see its sales surpase that of the PS2. By the end of this generation people will have drastically different view about PlayStation and Xbox. PS4 and XBO will end up above 400M units in the end, and the next gen will grow on top of that. These are not gaming devices anymore, they are PC's for the TV, they are Pay TV Boxes, they are the digital hub of the modern home. |
Uh... I'm... huh?
These haven't been just gaming devices since 7th gen. What exactly can the PS4 offer now that my PS3 doesn't have aside from specific titles and a better user interface? All the services are the same so to say that these platforms are offering more now than gaming is absurd. Your prediction is not grounded in reality imo and we have no substantial evidence to make those kinds of claims aside from pure whims. Additionally Sony is positioning itself in and pursuing growth as a service provider. We should see subscriptions and market presence go up disproportionately to hardwale sales.
And as far as Microsoft goes, well... it's as clear as day that they are going to come out with a smaller userbase, not a bigger one. Any analayst can tell you that. We can almost say with certainty that by the end of production, X1 will be absolutely <100 million. That means Sony needs to sell >300 million for your claim to be right and that is not going to happen especially when Vue will be offered on PS3.
The only thing your post needs left is mention of a vita phone and how it will be the second coming of Jesus.

(laughs) […] Every time these things are proven wrong, and as long as we have passionate people wanting to continue to play on game consoles, we wll try hard to continue, and even make it bigger for the future.” - |
Yeah except people are mostly just wanting to game on their TV using a controller. The time is now past that it's necessary to have a console as the conduit for the couch+TV gaming experience. Sony is even delivering that with PSNow and PSTV. The traditional games console is certainly doomed, either this or the next generation will be the last generation we will see a traditional gaming console. Streaming / gaming as a service is the future...eventually.

Agreed. I expect one more generation of traditional consoles, at least from 2 of the competitors. Who knows who will be the first to break away though.
What is clear is that consoles in the traditional sense will evolve. They have too.

You don't have to be a scientist but perhaps a scientist would be clever enough to realize that only 20% or so of the wii users are traditional console gamers. I believe that traditional gaming will grow this gen again and may continue to do so in future generations.
