I was interested but not really hyped. Oh I was hyped in 2011 when they first revealed it. A lot of people I ran into were hyped. It was the most talked about piece of tech to show up at E3 that year aside from the obvious games (Skyrim and Zelda). I thought - and still do think - Nintendo was really on to something with the gamepad, though it needs some refinement. But then they just let those hype balloons deflate. E3 2012 didn't do much for me or most and then they just launched with relatively little fanfare. But with hindsight and info we have now, it would seem they had a lot of plans at the time of E3 2011 that just went south. The F-Zero launch title, their partnerships and relations with other companies, etc. Too many moving parts in a plan with too small of a window imo.

I had never heard off a Wii U until I Googled ps4 vs xbox one just before they both released, first hit was a website comparing all three 8 gen consoles, and so i choose wii u to buy myself for that Xmas.

No. I get hyped forbgamea, not consoles, and the Wii Us early lineup was unappealing. I will be getting my Wii U for Winter break and I am hyped to play the dozen or so games in its backlog that appeal to me

I almost missed the launch because I didn't visit gaming forums at that time and there didn't seem to be any advertising for it whatsoever.

Eh, somewhat. It was a last minute decision to buy it at launch and Ive regretted it since... and yet here I am getting excited for NX *sigh*
