Forums - Gaming - So... Why everybody complains so much about Wii U's hard drive and not the PS4 one?

Is not upset, i´m just tired of the way people overrates some things while they criminally underrate anothers. This is a clear flaw of the Ps4, is not a deal breaker flaw, and obviously every console has its problems, but, for every time ps4has been criticized for this, wiiu has been criticized 15 times for a flaw that at the end is pretty similar, WiiU gives you storage problems with digital games and indies but you can very easily upgraded to 2TB even with pendrives. Ps4 gives you the same storage problems but with physycal games (wich is kind of ironic) and you have to buy a specific thing, open the console and install it manually if you want more, at the end I think Ps4 is even more problematic in this regard, and yet I heard the 32GB argument everyday and with the ps4 this is the second time in my life I see a direct complaint about it.

Were you not here when the PS4/Xbox One came out? Gaming websites did articles about how 500 gb wasn't going to be enough, forums were full of threads talking about how 500 gb wasn't big enough, people were complaining that you only actually got just under (Xbox One) or just over (PS4) 400 gb of actual space...honestly I don't understand how you can think the PS4 didn't get flak for it's HDD.

I was not in forums yet, I believe you but those complains died years ago while the storage problems of wiiu are still a thing to shit about and is just because the number (32gb VS 500 GB) the only thing that people apreciate, numbers, but at the end of the day, they both give very similar problems for different reasons.

Yeah, that´s the trap, you can´t say nothing bad about it even if you are just being ironic, without being salty or a hater, well done! :D

Not to be funny but in a LOT of PS4 related threads/topics you always seem "upset" in your posts. Maybe I am reading too much into it but that is kind of what you give off. Not attacking you commenting on what I have seen. Oh and to be honest the thread creator is wrong anyway...there have been QUITE a few people who have complained about the PS4 500GB hard drive saying that it wasn't enough.

Im not the only one noticing your salt, but hey keep doing your thing man.

True but it is on all sides though whether it be PS4, XB1 or Wii U. We just tend to notice it more regarding our console of choice and because I prefer the PS4 I notice it more with the PS4 and see it VERY often, yet because you may prefer the Wii U you just see it more with the Wii U while I don't. For instance this is the VERY FIRST time I have seen complaint about the Wii U Hard drvie, heck before this thread I didn't even know what the size of the Wii U hard drive was because I really didn't and don't care for the Wii U.

Also it is kind of odd you say you can very easily upgrade the Wii U with pendrives. Yet didn't mention that you could also use and external HDD for the PS4 just brought up that you could swap out the internal HDD. Both give you very simple and easy upgrade options. Yet both come with too small HDDs in my opinion. But anyway the complaints are on boths ides you just notice more depending on what side of the fence you are on. So don't let it bother you so much man! Just relax!

This thread is starting to go downhill, let's lay off on the mocking tone (and bait) in some of these comments.

OT: I mostly buy physical games on console so storage hasn't really been a problem so far for me. PS4 installs are pretty quick and Wii U games don't take up much space.

I mean, you can't really compare the size of huge games on Ps4/Xbone on Blu ray disks to smaller sized games on the Wii U DVDs.

I get your complaint though. It still is annoying to have to install with physical disks. Honestly what are you installing? 40-50 gb would be the entire size of the game, so does that mean the disk does not work without installing the entire thing on the HDD? Makes little sense.

But i game digital only so makes to difference to me and my 2tb Ps4 HDD.

IGN psoted an article at the beginning of this year talking about the PS4 HDD. Has it died down? Sure, but it's still an issue people bring up. Nobody is trying to claim it's not an issue.

The real difference between the storage issues on the PS4 and the WiiU is that even with the standard HDD, you could fit like 10 full retail games on a PS4. If you wanted to buy a full retail digital WiiU game, you might get 2 on the memory in the WiiU.

But they do certainly both have storage issues, and personally I've had to adress both of them (2TB in the PS4, 32 gb card in the WiiU).

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I think it's funny that the Thread Title assumes that people don't complain about the PS4 HDD size but I have seen plenty of threads and comments to the contrary

Its not that he doesnt assume that no one complains, but why is Nintendo getting sooooooooooooo much hate compared to this.

How much space did the Wii had?

Pocky Lover Boy!

I don't see the issue here. I don't think you'll ever play so many games at once on your PS4 that you'll run out of 500GB of HDD space. By the time you do fill up your 500GB you'll have finished most of the games you had on it. So just delete those and get new ones. If you ever want to play the old ones again its not like your disc is gone. Just pop that sucker in and you'll be playing your game in a few minutes. This is all just a non-issue.

Complaining about the Wii U's storage pretty much died down a long time ago as well and all you see now is the occasional trickle when some game is localized and it's digital only, using half of your storage. Just like you only see complaints on the PS4/XBO's storage those timeswhen users suddenly discover they've filled up their harddrives and need to delete stuff. The reason you don't see those complaints is because it's not something people would care to make a thread about. I've seen complaints about the storage in both the PSNation and the XBEmpire threads, and I've seen complaints about the Wii U's storage in the Nintendomination thread. I never see those complaints regardless of platform outside of the nation threads, so I'm not sure what you or the OP are alluding to. PS4 and the XBO gets as much flak for this (though not so much the XBO anymore because you can have an external harddrive).

People have complained about the storage capacity on both the Xbox One and the PS4 since they launched. Seems like all three companies have been attacked in equal measure for this very issue so I am not seeing any special victimization anywhere.

Having said that, Microsoft and Nintendo support externals and it takes less than five minutes to swap out the HDD on the PS4 so they have all made it very easy to get around storage issues.
