[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I'm not surprised. I was talking to somebody who was reviewing the game, and they mentioned quite a few areas where this falls short as its own title. No challenge, no real reward, no real feeling of progression, only about four hours before the credits roll, etc.. There was a lot of potential for the concept, but I guess it just couldn't measure up.

Not surprising, the game looks horrible

So this is not a good score for an Animal Crossing game? I have no idea where Animal Crossing normally sits in the meta range.

Can we have metascores for past AC games for context?

Seems like an alright game. Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure people who are really into interior design would find it worth a buy.

Animal Crossing: 87

Animal Crossing: Wild World: 86

Animal Crossing: City Folk: 73

Animal Crossing: New Leaf: 88

It's worth mentioning that this is a spinoff that tries to capitalize on the home design aspect of Animal Crossing, so whether or not it really measures up to major Animal Crossing games such as the four listed above is irrelevant. It shares the series and theme, but not much else. It would be like comparing Mario Kart scores to New Super Mario Bros.

Not a fan of metacritic, but this seems accurate. Based on reviewers I tend to trust, there was no genuine feeling of reward and whilst it expands, it eventually gets really repetitive. There's ultimately a heavier emphasis of aesthetic entertainment rather than something along the lines of a life/management sim

A bit on the low side, but not surprising this game got this score (would have preferred low to mid 70s)

but what really excites me is the n3DS bundle with this game for NA :p

It'll still sell a million minimum.

Which is the most disappointing thing. Nintendo knows Animal Crossing spiked in popularity with the release of New Leaf, and have decided to abuse the IP with crappy spinoffs like this and that Amiibo Party nonsense.
