LuckyTrouble said: This is a bit of a double whammy. Not only could it encourage thousands not to purchase a PS4 for weeks, but it puts the pressure on Sony to do a price cut or risk losing sales completely from those that were told waiting was worth it who end up disappointed when Sony doesn't follow through. Basically, whether Sony wants to or not, this is putting the squeeze on them to lose money from their juggernaut. It's one thing when a journalist infers that a price cut is coming, but it's a completely different beast when the president of the opposition says it's coming. Those words carry far more weight with far more risk for sales impact. |
I might be wrong here but, wouldnt the X1 be the most damaged by the PS4 getting a price cut? I mean, obviously it cannot compete with it while being cheaper. So forcing the PS4 to get a price cut would only mean the X1 would need a price cut aswell. so I really, REALLY, doubt that forcing a PS4 price cut is what Phil is after. And if it is, well, then he didnt think that through.
Maybe he was just implying that they indeed have a price cut coming for the X1 and dont want to make official just yet, hence implying that they are not afraid of Sony dropping the price for the PS4 (Damn I'm dizzy).
