Always found it amusing that Sega's name came first in Sega-Sammy...

Sega independent but I bet Nintendo buys them out.

wouldn't be worth it nowadays.

Their making their games multi-plat I believe.

Plus if they became Ninty exclusive...what do they bring? the answer is not much. Maybe Sonic. Thats about it.

I'm back...

People seem to be ripping on sega and saying they have nothing to offer as a company but that is a completely wrong assumption.

They have much bigger depth than most people realize. Way more depth than nintendo, who make the same 10 games over and over... Sony and Microsoft have 5 games they can make for every console themselves, the rest they have to count on 3rd party companies and new unproven IP's. Not sega however...

Other then FPS games and sports games, sega has a current game series in every other type of game.

Racing - Sega rally, Daytona, Outrun
Fighting - Virtua fighter, fighting vipers
RPG - Skies of Arcadia, Shining Force, Phantasy star, shenmue
Survival horror - Condemned
Strategy - Universe at War, soccer manager
Platform - Sonic, nights
Adventure - Golden Axe, Shinobi, Jet Grind radio
Shooter - Panzer Dragon, Virtua cop, house of the dead, Afterburner
Party multi player games - Super monkey ball, Space channel 5, Virtua tennis
Stealth Action - Headhunter

All these games could be made for current gen consoles and be good games. The problem is that Sega lacks funding to make good games these days but they have enough material to easily start their own console...

This is why we need some company to come in and invest in them as the return would be well worth it both for the investing company and us gamers.

They just go with what sounds best.

Square's name comes first in Square-Enix despite Enix's stock being worth more at the time of the merger.

Which seems odd, but was true.

Didn't sega ask nintendo to buy them , but nintendo refused. I don't remember where I heard this , but I did.

Wow, so many misinformed people in this thread.

Sonic owns Sega! He bought the rights to Sega after Mario and Sonic. He saved every one of his rings up and purchased the company out right. Dr. Robotnik secretly funded sonic behind the scenes!

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Sega should just keep licensing Nintendo characters.
