Forums - Gaming - I want a 3D World Mario Maker on the NX.

It's true for any and every game.  Adding another dimension simply makes things objectively more complicated.  The demands of a platformer are different than the demands of something like Minecraft.

I agree that it's more complicated. But I don't think that it makes it so complicated that it would be unmanagable or overwhelming. The demands of a platformer were overcome masterfully in the original Super Mario Maker. Like I said, unlike 3D Mario games, the Isometric 3D Land/World games lend themselves to the same kinds of lego-style level building as Minecraft has. It wouldn't be much more different in implementation from Minecraft, and it wouldn't be much more complex in execution than Super Mario Maker.

It certainly could be done, but less people would be interested in it.  Even if you used the same sort of controls as Minecraft, it's terrain you'll have to jump through with more precision than is typically needed in minecraft.  The demands of a platformer were met in Super Mario Maker, because that's in 2D.  When players have a 3D space to move around in, it makes everything more complicated.  Again, it's not like they couldn't make it, just that it would be a far more niche title than Mario Maker.

I want one too! :D

I don't think we will getting one.

I think Mario 3D Maker will be more complex than 2D Mario and teh 3D games have less in common to create similar stages like you cna switch between 2D games! I can imagine new DLC (SMB2 - NSMB2) for mario maker and even a port for 3DS for Mario 3D Maker not yet!

Switch!!!

I am a Playstation go through and through but to compare Modnation and Mario Kart is crazy lol

gameplay wise i like mod nation better.  the loading screen were crap but the actual racing was fantastic.  anyways,.. not trying to derail the thread just saying if he wants the experience of a track editor MNR has it.  like with every other user generator game,... the user generated levels mostly sucked.

Not much more to say there. I want Mario Maker with the 3D world assets. Cubes instead of tiles. As soon as I thought of it, I got excited. I literally don't care at all about Super Mario Maker, but give me the same concept with 3D World assets instead, and I'm buying it day 1.

He probably wants a game with good gameplay. ;)

With all due respect to LBP, as a platformer it's pretty terrible.

will all due respect you're wrong.  the lvls MM built were fantastic,.. only the user generated stuff was crap.  ...and either way you should show more respect because from 4 player platforming to user generated content the last few mario platformers has been straight out copying LBPs innovations on the genre.

also, that link is to dreams not LBP.

AAA devs have enough problems making a 3D game themselves already!

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

for me, just port SMM for NX, with more creation elements and options.
Create and share your world, with the levels you create in sequence...
