Will this one be an exclusive? It seems like a bad idea. I mean, King of Fighters isn't really a big franchise (at least compared with the other fighting game PS4 exclusive, Street Fighter V), so wouldn't it made more sense to go after the XBone crowd too now that they won't be able to play Street Fighter? I would say go for the WiiU crowd too, but they have Smash, and the NX still seems too far away.

With development team that has 0 experience on 3D game? Did you look at the trailer?

I'm die hard KOF fan, but this is quite depressing.

Going for XBone crowd is a bad idea considering it has terrile sales rate in Asia (South Korea, Japan, China), their core market.

If anything, it will likely be ported over for PC in order to get South American market, in which prefers KOF over SF. Much later. Considering their studio power.

NX may be a possible choice if it sells well in Japan.

Regardless. KOF fan base just have gotten past the 5 stages of the grief moments ago. They really don't like style of KOF 14. Lets hope it isn't going to be a repeat of XII. Considering PS4 isn't suffering from weird form of drought that benefited Bloodborne so much, KOF 14 isn't going to benefit much from going exclusive.

Based on Trailer, Kyo is either in XI style (Having mixture of 94' and 02' style) or simply one of 98, 99, or 00. And considering the motion he performed before going to next move, it is either his Standing CD (Blowback) can be combo'ed into for free without netting a counter, or his super trigger contains CD motion.

Looking at the location of Iori after hit, it is likely that CD hit Iori while he was airborne. In older KOF, this would force soft knockdown - meaning no follow up. But he is following up either with Super, or DP.

He still seems to have great armor he had back in XIII as NESTs Kyo.

I KNOW They are going to try to pander western and Latin market by introducing some of forgotten characters like Heavy D!, Lucky, Brian, and Agent team will probably going to make a comeback. (Seth, Ramon, Vanessa.)

For a game that gets hammered to oblivion for having Mai Shiranui, KOF certainly has lots of good female characters and ethnic characters that breaks stereotype.

Since they are bought out by Chinese company, it is likely that hinted story about Kensou's Dragon Power will become very important in this game. (Unless this is a Dream Match.) This means Bao the most annoying kid in the history of KOF is returning to give us another extremely safe and highly damaging balls.

I'm not sure how much of KOF XIII's move trend will made into 14. KOF 13 had to recycle moves to fill the slot as spriting process took extremely long time and came with hefty price tags. But this also resulted in some character getting absurd tools like King, Kim and Kyo.

Blazblue. Although I believe that they are doing this because 2D is more time consuming than 3D.

It is? How much harder is it for a developer to get some sprite artist and program the game acordingly than rendering the 3D models full HD?

Also, I agree with NiKKoM, the models look weird.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It takes up a lot of time individually drawing each frame of animation for every character and stage.

If they go the Guilty Gear route, they can all go 3D.

Very VERY hard. Following is how they spritied characters in KOF XIII.

1. They started by making a 3D model in Full HD of each character and fully texturing them with HD texture as best as they can.

2. They animated attacks and moves frame by frame, cutting some frames short to make it look like a traditional fighting game.

3. Once they finished step 2, they capture those animation and turn into image file. 480p.

4. Test the image to see if they got desired result. If not, return to 2.

5. Once they get correct image file, draw details and shadow over captured image. FRAME BY FRAME.

6. Reorganize the image, test, then program them into the game. Actual frame spent per move varies between 24~120. Because of this, they recycle much sprite as they can.

You may not believe this, but this actually saved them money and time compared to spriting them one by one.

KOF XIII does look amazing, but it costed them. Considering they are stubbornly using their own engine despite the fact they don't really have modern studio set up, result isn't too surprising.

Game will come out considerably more interesting than SF5 though. They always paced the game well.

I'm one old happy Fan !
