I am actually a bit let down by 4th highest for SMM. This game deserves to have beaten Splatoon's opening week, at least.

Here's to hoping that SMM goes on to sell very well by having legs similar to Minecraft and staying relevant for a very long time.

It did, though. It was only beaten by Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros. Wii U and Nintendo Land.

No problem! It's also worth pointing out that this makes it the highest opening for a Mario platformer on the Wii U (beating out NSMBU, NSLU and Super Mario 3D World). Not too shabby.
