That is a terrible thread title

I have no idea what you are trying to ask. Seriously.

If you look at the history of these things, companies CONTINUE to supply their competitors after buyouts.
For three reasons: 1. avoid antitrust suits 2. get money from competitor 3. keep other customers (in this case HP, Dell) calm about you owning their thing
Can Microsoft buy people's will to buy their console? When that day arrives Sony should get worried.
I dont think Microsoft is too bothered because of the payment to Sony for their share of BluRay.
Microsoft owns the VC-1 viceo codec, which is used by many Blu Rays. They made money with Blu Ray when it was a 'not Xbox' format.
And they'd buy AMD they'd make money with PS4.
Just a side note, since AMD outsorced their fabs they are not producing chips anymore. Basically Sony and Microsoft bought the architecture from AMD that is fabricated at at a semiconduchtor foundry like Globalfoundires (former AMD) or TSMC.
So license fees would go to MS, but they couldn't even stop manufacturing if they wanted because they would not manufacture in any case.
That's not exactly how it works. There are still contracts that have to be upheld otherwise they can be sued.
Nah, Microsoft is buying them because they want to make Xbox and PCs cheaper. Microsoft will cut the middle man and probably run AMD as a break even sector instead of for profit when it comes to their own products.
First of all, AMD is already contracted to get Sony their GPU/CPUs.
Second, Sony could pull Bluray in retaliation.
Third, based on MS allowing games they helped pay for or own (Rise of the Tomb Raider and Minecraft, respectively) to appear on PlayStation consoles while also moving their own exclusives to PC as well and allow PC to stream XB1, it would seem more like Microsoft is giving up on XB1.

1st one is correct.
2nd is not correct. Sony is not the only owners of blu ray.
3rd Rise was bought for only a year and minecraft ip was bought after sony funded their own version of Minecraft. Microsoft wants PC and Xbox to exsist sepreatly because not everyone wants to game on PC (PC not user friendly for many). If this deal goes down it will make the xbox one cheaper.
Microsoft only buying AMD to cut the middle man for their window products because it will allow them to make window devices cheaper. CPU and GPU are one of the most expensive parts of a device.
Is this like how they brought minecraft, to kill Sony by releasing no minecraft on Sony hardware?
