is that it?

Guess we're waiting until early next year for the big announcement then...

wait for the CoroCoro scans of this moth, they said they would have talked more in detail about the slimy misterious Pokémon, and seeing this announcement, it isn't farfetch (:]) to think they would also announce Z, since the 15 of September the 4th episode of the MegaEvolution episodes is coming out, and I don't think they want to announce the new game with that (since Zygarde and the slimy pokémon are confirmed to be in the special...) <.<

If Z is all we get for the 20th anniversary I'd be kind of disappointed. Hoping for gen 7 really...

Please, no. It's too early. I would prefer to wait for the new hardware.

It's gonna be Gen 7 from the looks of this.

Which could very well just be on NX if NX is a handheld. If a new Handheld launched with a new Pokemon they would have absolutely no problems with launch sales.

Well by now we would have:

-Pokémon Z on 3DS;

-Pokémon GO on Android and Iphone;

-Pokkén Tournament on Wii U;

-Pokémon Super Mistery Dungeon in Europe (cuz late release);

that's 4 good games, and the only one that isn't announced (but has to be released next year), so there's space for other stuff, let's say for Pokémon Ranger, or maybe even Pokémon Snap 2 on Wii U... plus I believe Pokémon GO will come to Nintendo consoles aswell, so it might be the first Nintendo game on NX <.<

And if Pokemon gen 7 were a launch title for the new hardware?

That would be different. I don't know if the NX is coming next year or not, but a main-series Pokemon as a launch title would do great for initial sales and for Nintendo to show third parties good hardware numbers from the beginning. I would accept it as long as it isn't rushed out.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

that would be different, but I believe GameFreak has never released two games (substancialy different one from the other) of the main series in the same year (at least in the same country).

Btw am I the only one that's happy to see that Nintendo cares about Pokémon's 20th anniversary ? I believed they would have celebrated Zelda for the 30th and don't even care about Pokémon and Metroid (poor Samus )

Well the only way they would release two games from the main series in the same year would be if Z happens and if gen 7 really is next year then that would imply Z won't happen at all. Considering there was no real 3rd version in gen 5 either it isn't impossible that they skip over it and go straight to gen 7.

They can't simply skip a necessary game, X/Y leave a lot of unanswered questions, as well as a New Pokémon that hasn't been released yet and for which there isn't coded way to encounter, so can't be released via Wi-fi (at least on ORAS/XY). The only way I can see them doing more than one game is if: Z happens and is only ONE game (so they don't lose time making the sequels different) and on 3DS, while Gen 7 happens on NX Handheld, that's kinda unlikely knowing that GameFreak releases main series titles on Nintendo consoles after a few years so that they can use properly the hardware. that said it would be possible that GF decided to make both 7th and 8th gen on NX as they did on the DS...

eh, not too thrilled with that line up myself. It seems too normal, as in that's the kind of stuff you could expect any year.

Yeah. Like the pokemon fighting game from creators of Tekken. Every year since 1900 we got it!

Are there really that many unanswered questions? Well, even if there are it's not as if they couldn't be answered in gen 7. Maybe they'll even do something like gen 2 and have Kalos visitable after you beat the elite 4 in the new region. And maybe the new pokemon is a gen 7 pokemon. Even if it wasn't originally intended to be a gen 7 pokemon it's not impossible for them to change their minds about it and shift it over. Basically there's ways to tie up what happened in gen 6 without having another gen 6 game so it isn't really 'necessary'.

Also imagine this, what if gen 7 isn't NX exclusive but is instead cross gen? Not with the regular 3DS but with the New 3DS instead. By next year that will be a console that has been available for a couple years so Gamefreak would have had plenty of time to get used to the hardware, it allows them more power to improve the game beyond what the standard 3DS would so even though it's cross gen it isn't held back too much. It gives another positive to the New 3DS pleasing those that decided to upgrade. And not only does it boost NX sales it would also boost New 3DS sales so it's both kick starting their new console and giving one final push on their old one.

yes, there are tons of unanswered quesions, theres a HUGE LORE for Pokémon X/Y, and I don't really think that Gamefreak will make another multi-region game until they don't make one with all the regions. I believe the slimy 'mon is either 6.5 gen or 7th gen but he isn't a proof that we're near to 7th gen, may other Pokémon appeared way before their generation.

nope, GameFreak doesn't do exclusive games inside certain generations of consoles , otherwise we would have seen Gen 5 on DSi . plus they can't make 7th gen crossgen because games wouldn't be compatible the same way they usually are, as well as having a graphic jump INSIDE the generation, which has no reason, the first 2 titles on New3DS would be almost the same as X/Y (as you can see from XC on New3DS graphics can't be pushed that much) and then the other titles in 7th gen would be way better

Holy nucking futs!!! Fuck you Nintendo for not making every trailer you do as good as that one! What the hell?

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Just because it's never happened before doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. There'd never been a direct sequel before but that changed in gen 5.

still it would be too messy, immagine all the people that aren't really informed that let's say, bought a N3DS to their son with Pokémon 1/2 for his birthday and then the next year they bought him Pokémon 3, which is exclusive to NX, there would be A LOT of people in this situation

That is quite possibly the best Nintendo game trailer I have ever seen - seriously. It looks like a lot of fun, and it is right on their path of making people be active to play their games, plus it forces people to be social with each other outside of the digital world. It's a brilliant idea bringing people together through the use of smartphones blended with the real world. Vintage Nintendo if you ask me, hopefully this is a sign of things to come :)
