Forums - General - How many VG Chartz members listen to Rush Limbaugh and/or Shawn Hannity?

Shawn hannity is o.k. but the one I like the most is that other guy

I used to listen to Rush, but he is a bit too over the top for my liking, and he's far too defensive of Neocon platforms. I haven't heard much of Hannity, but from what I've heard, I'd probably enjoy listening to him.

I also find it rather unsettling, even if it's in jest, that I've heard far more people on the liberal spectrum that will say things like "If I came across (opposing party member) I'd do (some sort of harm to them)" I've rarely heard this level of personal malevolence on the conservative end. Sure, I've heard bigotry and hatred along the lines of "I hope they (have something bad happen to them)" but rarely has it been of such a personal level. Just anecdotal evidence there, but still troubling nonetheless.

I understand that this may go unread by you, but I figured I'd throw in my two cents.

As a staunch liberal (and a Canadian one to boot!) I couldn't disagree more, and not simply out of bias. I have respect of the conservative ideology and am always open to reasonable debates on several political issues. However, the key thing about your claim is, as you said, that it is anecdotal. I'm confident for every case you can think of where you this type of attitude is evident on the liberal side, I could recall one of equal malliciousness stemming from a conservative.

Now, I wouldn't make the claim that conservtives seem to be, through jesting or not, more violent or ept to attack personally, because that would be prejudging of a people who happen to share a common ideology. Now I have no idea, if you were seriously trying to imply some correlation there, and I hope that you weren't, but this frame of mind is far from having the equal playing field you seem to wish to portray. Both sides have their jerks, but we both have our values, they may differ, but both are valid in the eye of their followers.

wow, this thread got derailed....

Yeah I listen to Rush when I get the time. I love the songs he plays and I thought they way he pwned Harry Reid was hilarious. (I can't stand that guy) Hannity is ok, but I definitely like Mike Savage better. Rush>Savage>>Hannity

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Yes he wrote the book with John Linder and the sequel to it also. I don't see how that makes him Communist though... the FairTax is the opposite of Communism by a long shot. And yes, he is a registered Libertarian. He announced it with some weeks ago that he sent in his check for the lifetime membership to the Libertarian Party. The only thing he disagrees with the party over is the War on Terrorism.
It's good that he has come around so much.  I haven't listened to him in years. However, I am pretty sure the LP is against the FairTax.  The last couple LP canidates for President wanted to end the federal income tax and replace it with nothing.  They wanted to greatly reduce federal spending and have states pick up the spending if they wanted to continue with socialist progams and such.

@FreeTalkLive:
I would agree that Federal Spending should VASTLY reduce. About 50-60% I think would be about right. All federal entitlement programs should end and the federal government should really only be concerned with international, security issues, inter-state disputes, among a few select other things. However, In the current state of society I doubt that will happen. People have realized they can vote to give themselves things.

The FairTax is another thread topic. I think it could be the first step to reforming our broken government spending though.

I don't listen to openly bias people. Not to mention I think they perpetuate the worst thing in politics nowadays: namecalling and scapegoating.

Why can't people just learn to agree to disagree. Remember at heart we are all Americans(if you live in this country of course), and that although we have political, religious, and ethical differences that we are still going for a common goal. Yet instead people want to label others as something negative. Just stupid and that's what's really ruining this country.

Rush Limbaugh just outright makes up too much stuff to take seriously. I'd rather get political advice from Jim Rome.

The amount of outright lies the guy has made up his staggering.

Hannity can be a dick sometimes, but at least he doesn't make stuff up.

^ Just curious, but what are you talking about? Any links?

Zucas, everyone is biased, it's just that conservative talk radio people don't try to hide it.

I listen to Rush Limbaugh occasionally; even though he's somewhat pompous he is entertaining to listen to because he likes to deconstruct and analyze people and events. Kasz216 - Rush making stuff up? Never heard of it. Lots of people hate the guy, but he doesn't make stuff up. He makes guesses and predictions based on evidence, but that's it. I also love the parodies (songs) that they have on the show all the time :D
Have any of you that hate the guy actually listened to a whole radio show, rather than reading quotes that are (most likely) taken out of context?

I don't really listen to Shawn Hannity though...no offense to his fans, but I don't find him to be all that intelligent. Plus, his program always bores me.
