Besides, consider this. 1) The average lifespan in the U.S. is 78 or so. 2) The average amount of time spent at Church on a Sunday is about 3 hours (a fair assumption). 3) The number of weeks in a year is 52 (let's exclude all those extra days/weeks). Even with all these assumptions, this means that the average person who goes to church weekly will spend about 507 days of their life in church; that's over a year and a half of your life in church. 4) The average lifespan in the U.S. in days is 28,470 (78 * 365). If we divide average lifespan in days by the average days spent in church by a person, we get a number around 56. Just consider that for a moment: For every 56~57 people who attend church weekly all their lives, the church has effectively killed one person. |
That's so funny.
I wish my mom would go for something like that...
I do attend church weekly. And have done so all my life, but once I move out of my house, I don't know if I'll continue to do so.

Quote of the year.
<The Knight of The Doomeds>
I quit "The Church" around two and a half years ago. The only times I've been to church after that have been two funerals.
I find that (in most cases) people who don't go to church are better and nicer people. I've been to church a few times and i honestly don't find it all too important, i believe in god, to me that matters, i don't need church to help me with that.
Only when there's a wedding, burial, baptism etc.
Other than that; never in my life, I'm not very religious to say the very least.
That is kinda funny Words or Wisdom. Though I would disagree with the assumption that the church kills one out of 56-57, I would put it this way, that one person would be a very pious person, spending all their time in the church. In my case I only spend 1 hour a week at church, though I am a volunteer afterwards so that takes another hour or so.
Nope. God is everywhere and you should remember God and talk to God always, not just in one building on one day of the week. I did at one time go to the Mosque every Friday though, until I realized that it is really unnecessary.

I only go to church when someone forces me to. I really haven't been religious in a very long time. Probably don't believe in God anymore, but I haven't thought about it enough to come up with a definite answer of whether I do or not.
...
@superchunk: That is an interesting thought. I respect that. Although I would disagree with it because the Paul wrote in Hebrews 10:25 "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near."
