Forums - General - Do you attend church weekly? Yearly?

It is true, Darwin converted very near his death. Anyways about me. What I believe does not mean that I follow it all the time because I am not perfect.

Sex = ONLY in marriage.
Curse Words = Not used (I fail often)
Abortion = Killing an unborn human = BAD!~!! (PLZ don't go off on this topic)
Censorship = political issue = I think things should be regulated to the proper forum. I think all porn should be put into a new registration type where all domains much end in ".xxx" or ".sex" or the like.

But just my opinions. I do have reasons for them all though. All are based in Biblical roots.

I probably have the record for worst church attendance for anyone who considers himself a definite Christian. I've been less than 5 times(not counting weddings) in the last 16 years or so.

I've been considering going lately, but I have a real problem making myself go somewhere where I have to sit and listen a lot(church, school, etc).

"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."

No I'm athiest.

I go at least once a week, and sometimes twice a week.

There were actually quite a few early Christian movements that didn't have organized churches, and believed there should be no intermedi... guy-in-between with man and God.

They got crushed pretty early on by the more organized sects, and nobody wanted to follow the example of the losers afterwards. =P

@quigontcb: I don't think it is a big problem you are having. I understand your dilemma about not wanting to sit through more things. Again, (though I don't want to sound like a broken record) I would recommend trying online church @ www.lifechurch.tv and see if you like that. If you do then there may be a campus near you.

The way my church is setup is instead of building a huge building and having all the people cram into it, they build or occupy other buildings locally. There are over 10 locations around the country with my Church. They don't spend the money on a big building because they feel it is a waste, they could build several small building around America and soon the world and reach more people than if they used the same amount of cash to build a BIG building like most churches do.

3 things:

1) Haven't been to church in at least 10 years.

2) I have the utmost respect for religion and its influence on societies moral and societal norms, expectations, laws, and teachings. I also share that same respect for those who practice a religion that shares their beliefs, so as long as they respect my choosing not to practice or my reluctance to have been 'found'.

3) I did check out your link, mostly the childrens section. To be honest, and no offense is meant by this, but I was kinda repulsed by it. It simply does not match how I believe best to raise my child. But it did seem like a great website, and I was surprised to find that they displayed in HD!! I'm sure it's a great website though, if I were of the faith. Also, while looking at your sig, I was repulsed by your tag. To compare a political ideology, and implicating those who believe in it as having a mental disorder is just wrong. I realize that it is a joke, but it is like me saying Christianity is a mental disorder. I at least have enough respect for Christianity to not make such a low, low blow. Perhaps, I'm being oversensitive... I've been told so more than once last week at work, if so, I apologize.

My mother was raised by nuns so my childhood years were an absolute living hell of being forced to go to both Spanish and English mass services(yes, one after the other!)and even worse, I had to read from that book out loud. As soon as I began to think for myself I refused to take part in her belief system. I like good fiction as much as anyone but I'll be damned(lol)if I'm going to give a part of my life up to it...

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

My tag is not my quote. It is from Michael Savage. But I love his show so I secretly promote it by using his quote.

Thanks for the respect. Appreciated. The children's section probably isn't the best way to get introduced to my church once you are an adult. I don't want to push my beliefs down your throat, but perhaps listening or watching (sometimes there are skits that need to be seen to understand) a message would be better than the kids part. I dunno... if you have the time and the inclination check out a podcast about "How to be rich" preferably the first week. Its funny and it grips you at times.

of all the people to put it in perspective the best come from my alcholic dad.....

i believe in god and it dose not cost me a thing. in fact they have proven that having belief in something an have a positive effect on your life. Now your more then welcome to keep not believing but when the time comes and we punch our ticket think of this. If i am wrong i am out nothing, but if you have been wrong you will be out every thing.
I don't think god would be very impressed with someone who only believes/goes to church because they're hedging their bets and worried about the possible consequences!
