Forums - Gaming - Is the "Don't Move" option of Until Dawn the most innovative gameplay so far this current-gen?

I could see a lot of horror/survival games copying this tbh.

Not yet, but if a certain comany actually does copy it, then it will be hailed as the greatest innovation of the generation by their fans, if they are reminded who did it first they will claim that it was their company who "did it right"

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Red light, green light! Innovative since 1485.

No. Is this a joke? Is a smart prompt but is still QTE. Are we gonna call every new smart QTE prompt an advancement in game play? Also, it relies on very sensitive motion controls (yuck!). Besides I might have seen something similar in Zack and Wiki, but I'm not sure, It might have been a balance prompt.

It was in star fox adventures already.

And I just sit the Controller on the couch when "don't move" appears.

Why put the controller down? The gamecube didn't have motion controls.

Edit: Dumb me, you were talking about Until Dawn. I tried the floor but the rumble messed my prompts.

You can also have all the lights on and play happy pop music when playing Outlast so I guess it's not a scary game. Maybe other people want immersion? ;)

I put the Controller down so that I.... don't move.

And star fox adventures had a challenge where you had to hold the analog stick steady while the game tried to scare you into moving.  I'll post the video later.

No, if I don't want to move I just don't press any buttons.
