Not alot of Indie games altogether on WiiU is there? PSN and ID@Xbox seem to be doing a better job, despite lots of indies being a good fit for the Wii U userbase.

I'd say it's down to much bigger userbases of PS4/X1, and ease of porting to those from PC.

Name me one big indie game that is missing on the Wii U? (besides Minecraft, can we still call this indie?)

It's getting Yooka-Laylee, Mighty No. 9, Bloodstained, Shantae: Half Genie Hero and Minecraft: Story Mode. Pretty much all of the big upcoming console indie games.

Ori & The Blind Forest, No Man's Sky, Cuphead

Only No Man's Sky is big.

But yeah, Sony money-hatting so it can't appear on other consoles is hardly a good thing. Indies praise themselves for being independent when they're really not if they're making deals like that.

Ori and Cuphead are also money-hatted by MS. As if Nintendo can go into a bidding war with these companies.

A quick look at the Wikipedia lists for PS4 throws up loads of released or upcoming indie games that mention nothing about the Wii U.

A few big hitters (VERY dependent on how you define 'indie') and lesser known titles I'm personally looking forward to:

Project CARS

The Witcher 3

No Man's Sky

WiLD

The Witness

Outlast

Unravel

Adr1ft

Shenmue 3

All Telltale games

Ori and the blind forest

Flower

Journey

Abzu

DayZ

Volume

The Tomorrow children

Rime

Soma

The Forest

Habitat

Redout

Radial G

Formula fusion

The list goes on a bit more.

I can't say I know of a Wii U exclusive indie game that I would like, but I'm not well informed on the Wii U library so there well may be one or more games.

PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One

Even if they're money hated, I was just saying which indies aren't on the Wii U that are big.

TW3 is an indie game now? Lmao. Journey is a PS3 game. They changed nothing in the PS4 version but double the framerate. You might as well count backwards comptability then. I don't think anything changed in Flower even.

Wii U is getting Minecraft: Story Mode and The Walking Dead Season 1 & 2 btw. I haven't even heard about most of the other games, so I don't care.

Indies need the funding more than effing Sega and Sonic. If anything, paying for Timed Exclusivity for Indie content is better for your consumers, and all consumers, because some indies can only come to console with the assistance of a publisher. When the likes of EA, UBI and ACTIV do not give the time of day to indies, I rely on Sony and MS to bring more independant games to all gamers. Nintendo, grow up or go home

Crowdfunding is the new hot thing for indies, but its success is a function of user base size, so platforms with a small user base will always require some moneyhatting. If the user base is really small, that's necessary also for simple ports, once it grows enough, users could start gathering enough for ports and moneyhatting will become necessary for exclusives only.

Actually all they do is withold games for a large portion of gamers.

As for the funding, it's called kickstarter or Indiegogo.

If you don't care about those games, that's fine, but you could have said 'there aren't any indie games not on Wii U that I like' then you wouldn't have been wrong!

And yes The Witcher 3 is an indie game by most definitions. Independently owned developer, independently funded game. They self published the game apart from the physical console edition in some regions.

According to that definition Nintendo is an indie developer, just saying...

Also you can't say timed exclusive indies are always bad. Chances are, some of the smaller games wouldn't make it to console (at least straight away) without Sony/MS/Nintendo's support.

For example, freedev kits and tools for ID@Xbox members.

With NX things may change, but at the moment Nintendo is some way behind the other big two.
