This. Thats why BC is good, it HOPEFULLY keeps companies from rereleasing due to consoles being backwards compatible.

Just because backwards compatibility exists doesn't mean publishers will stop rereleasing games take for example the original gears of war game been BC on X1 while a ultimate edition just released ...

Nintendo could have easily added backwards compatibility for GC on the WII U yet they rereleased Wind Waker so it's not like they have the best intentions either ...

We do not justify if a rerelease is necessary or not so let the consumers determine that for us ...

Thats why i included hopefully.

way over hyped IMO i don't even use the backward compatibility of my XBOX1.... so it useless for me. I did purchase a PS4 and X1 for next gen game not old gen... (we need to forward in gaming not going backward like MS does)

It's a great feature to have but studies show that it's not a feature that majority of gamers use as when they purchase new gen they tend to just focus on new gen games.

I see lots of articles praising XB1 with bringing back backwards compatibility, but where was the praise when systems like the Wii U had it from the start?

Personally, I think the reason MS added BWC is to compensate the lack of games on the XB1 and to make their 'library' seem larger, where we've been hearing how the PS4 is getting more support and indy/third party exclusives. (IMO)

It's not officially released yet.... but I use it. Check my sig. And when I finish mgsV and Until Dawn, I'm going right back to playing 360 games. The feature had mins breathed new life into my old games. Wish I wouldn't have skipped the games from GWG that I already owned.

Backward comp is great in the beginning of the launch, when the console don't have a lot of good games.

But now, 2 years after the launch ? Way too late.

Why does it need to have an impact on sales and why would it? Obviously Sony fans are just upset they don't have it. Ofcourse you're gonna downplay it, you weren't even given a choice lol.

well if it has an impact on sales means its really that important or that its a must for gamers which its not.  Like I said, its good to have it doesnt mean its a feature that I need yes or yes.  Last gen I bought the ps3 with BC and only used it to play one ps2 game so its not that I am downplaying it, its just that for me its not that big of a deal.

How would you even know it had an impact lol? Again this all just comes off as damn I wish Sony had this simply feature.

with wiiu u and ps3 it didnt do much and with ps2 and wii, the sold great on their own merit, in other words, they would have sold great with or without bc.  stop pretending you know me when you dont because apparently the only thing bc is worth is for braggings rights and yes I know how bc feels because I had a bc ps3 and a wii bc as well and I dont own a single gamecube game.  That's how important its for me. believe or not, my envy level is cero.

I hear the "WiiU had BC" comment a lot.  But WiiU has the dubious honor of playing Wii games!

Just kidding.  But did you hear how happy gamers were to find out that SMG2, Punch out, Metroid Trilogy, etc were coming to Wii U for download?  Yeah, I bought all of them again despite owning them for Wii.  The excitement is real.

Well it added value to the console and X Box Live since all the 360 games in GWC from November onward will be ones that are on the backwards compatible list.

BC is a nice feature, there is no way around it. Is it a must? I don't think so. Sales reflect that.

I am by no means against BC. But I'm also not kidding myself thinking that this is some kind of killer app like some people do.

None of this post was even necessary. I never said BC is why those plats so well or BC would have saved those plats. All I said was its a nice feature to have and majority of the market has it.
