Forums - Gaming - Will Sony taking a loss for 2015 be worth it in 2016?

On a cheat day, are you more likely to eat pizza or ice cream?

Pizza 108 48.65%

Ice Cream 38 17.12%

I'm vegan so I only eat grass 17 7.66%

I produce my food via photosynthesis 23 10.36%

What is food; game is life 36 16.22%

Total:222

What loss? The Xbone will obviously sell more because of Halo 5. And then that's it. The PS4 instead will have more new games, even if less popular and a much larger library. People buying a new console the third year or later love the idea to spend less money to buy the older great games.

I think these 3rd party bundles will do wonders for Sony. Arkham Knight sold crazy, I wouldn't be surprised if the MGS and Star Wars bundles also sell like hot cakes.

I wonder if uncharted collection will spike console sales and if PGS and PSX reveals will bring anything more to the table.

With a better price point, I don't doubt MS will do well in the UK and USA, but whether it will make up for sales for the rest of the year and rest of the world I think is silly.

Guess this topic requires considering a possible month or two in second place on NPD (but probably not world-wide) taking an L for 2015. By the will of the US & UK, that gap's a closin'! (XD)

Anyone else notice the updated numbers. Less than a month behind now on hardware. Should give a good indication of what of things to come.

MS has put the nail in Xboxes coffin, so much is going to PC. So obvious it's being phased out, the next Xbox will be a entry PC box being upgradable by the user.

What do you mean ? Sony have tons of exclusives for this year alone, look up JStar Victory+, Dragon Quest Heroes, Until Dawn, Bloodborne, Everybody's Gone to rapture, MLB 15 the show, Godzilla 2015, Tereway PS4 are all FULLY PS4 exclusives.
They also have console exclusive games like Street Fighter V and No Man's Sky which are very BIG right now, especially No Man's Sky, this game could potentially be a gold mine for PS4 just like the minecraft xbox 360.
3rd party games would greatly helped too, especially the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V and Mad Max exclusive content along with Star War and Call of Duty partnership.

Sony are not consciously taking a loss, their big games just aren't ready for 2015 lol.

I'm sure they would much rather have Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian ready for this year if they could. It could mean they could go this holiday without having a price cut or excessive deals but I think we're going to see one (price cut) this fall, even if just temporary before the eventual big $100 drop

If they announce GT7 at PGS with a demo being released this year or a prologue, it could work miracles

Ps4 had been 2 years in the market i think they can do a price cut without make any loss

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

US =/= World

Everywhere else they will vastly outsell Xbox without even having to try. Plus COD/Battlefront marketing deals will go a long way to keeping them competitive even against Halo in the US.

Wasn't really refering to sales. But with a Halo/Forza coming out I don't really expect to compete solely on bundles. Even worldwide. At least PS4 won't outsell Xbone as much as it has been so far.

Forza? You expect Forza do do something marketshare-wise? Unlikely to be more than a small blip, and not as significant as the 3rd party bundles. Halo 5 is pretty much the only prominant challenge for PS4.
