They could have done what they did with uncharted, remastering all games in 60fps and 1080P and improve some minor textures

That would have been underwhelming.

I'd rather see them reduce resolution than quality of assets.

Yes, because the consensus on the Uncharted remasters/remakes is that they are underwhelming. The headline for the digital foundry article breaking down The Nathan Drake Collection is "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is more than just a remaster", with the subheadline "Digital Foundry on the extensive PS4 upgrades found in all three games." Underwhelming.....wildly underwhwelming.......

Fair enough. Let's save it for the Uncharted thread and keep it on topic, here.

At least playstation remastered (ps3 to ps4) are running in 60 fps.

This isn't a remaster.

eeehhh...there is no hard and fast definitions for us to go buy to determine what counts as a remake or not, but this still uses the same engine and base coding. So I don't think it really counts as a remake.

Good thing there's no "hard and fast definition for us to go by to determine what counts as a remake or not"! So I guess I am still right, thanks. You can argue semantics all you want, it won't change the amount of work put into bringing this remake onto a next gen platform versus the remasters referenced in my quote.

They could have easily ported the exact same game over with a bump to 1080p and 60 frames per second and some very very small visual changes.

uuuhh...He said it was a remaster, you told him it wasn't. You litteraly just responded to him to argue about semantics. So, you know, stones and glass houses and all that.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Like I said, this is fine. It won't change the effort put into the releases being discussed.

Seriously if its not even running at 60 fps through and through then whats the point of remastering it?

If it was just a straight port, I would agree.

But given visual overhaul with 1080p, I think 30 fps is acceptable.

30 fps for single player and 60 fps for multiplayer is a good compromise if we're talking about current gen games but not last gen. That would be an embarrassment for a remastered game.

In your opinion.

Now that you've made that clear, I guess you won't be buying it.  You feel 30fps is unacceptable.  Meanwhile, I'm playing it right now and loving it.  Well worth the money.

If you look at the content though, adding a cloud that wasn't there in an original cutscene, a different fire effect and revising a character model to be more in line with a "still" last gen later character model,  is hardly much more than a remaster.

As I recall 360 Red Dead Redemption had grass in places there was none on PS3 and ran at a higher resolution and framerate and no-one ever called that a remaster. We don't call PC ports "remasters" when they run at 4K 120fps on "High settings" so there's no reason to do so here.

No, NDC is not merely a remaster, but until they scrap every asset and rebuild from scratch, it's closer to a port than a remake.

This so much. All uncharted collection is just a port with no multiplayer....
