I watched a few of his videos and I'm confused as to how he got so popular. 

I don't know if Playstation has the best exclusives, but they appeal to me much more than the competition. 

Err, that's actually a decent endorsement of sorts, even though I am not a fan of pew and his work. Millions of little kids watch him and it may produce some impulse buy from these mindless little kids.

Still, it's just one man's opinion. I think the Wii U's exlcusive line up still has a higher overall metacritic, for what it's worth.

I remember that thread. I participated in it. I remember having a lot of problems with the point that was being made, but I dont remember what it was.

let's be real here though. The PS4 and the PS3 for that matter sell bcause of the third party games. The exclusives are not regarded as Sony's bread and butter. of course they have some good franchises like GOW, Uncharted, and now the Last of Us, but the vast majority of their first party content has underperformed and disappointed on a cosistent basis. When it comes to first party content, everybody knows Nintendo has the highest quality and best exclusives. Sure, somebody can have a PREFERENCE for Sony's, but at the end of the day, you need to be able to give this one to Nintendo. Just because you like something else better doesn't mean it is truly the best. Ill provide an example: I played a lot of MadWorld for Wii. I loved that game. I also did play The Last of Us and with my two attempts, I just found the game to be so incredibly boring and I found myself falling out of it and not caring about it. While MadWorld provided more of an experience that I prefer, I recognize the Last of Us as a better game. 

Uninformed opinions are worthless.

This is the first clip I saw of him, then I went to his channel and subscribed. I dont care about his gameplay videos, but I do like his general "feedback" and "opinion" videos. When hes not screaming and flailing around he seems like a sincere and decent dude. I wish I could say the same for his most vocal critics.

Less than 5hours of video up and it has like 500,000 views....

The thing is... there might suddenly be alot of pewdiepie follows that want to play Until Dawn... thats not happending unless they have a ps4.

Its def. not going to hurt sales of Until dawn.

Oh look, he is human, he is crying on that moment of the game where all we human beings cry (I cried like a 5 years old little girl on that moment too), suddlenly is a great youtuber with great content and a great criteria. He cries after all.

While I don't watch Pewdiepie at all, and have no interest in watching him, I do think he does convey something that so many gamers try to sweep under the rug as irrelevant:
A lot of gamers care about stories in games, some care about story even more so than gameplay. Pewdiepie is evidently someone who thinks this way as well. Story is why games like The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, Catherine, Portal, and Persona are so stellar.
I can't count how many times I've seen something along the lines of "story doesn't matter in video games. If you care about story, watch a movie or read a book" or "all stories in video games are terrible. Gameplay is what matters."

Like anything I or he would say would change your mind, move along. He has tons of views because people like him for different reasons (I stated mine, he doesnt come accross as an asshole). And just like the good old "quality/fun" buzzword "great content" is relative and means diferent things to different people, shocking, I know.
