Forums - Nintendo - Runbow, the "Indie Smash" for WiiU - Metascore: 89

I... I don't know what to say...

The demo was underwhelming. Reviewers must have been high. They probably handed out lots of bonus points because so many of their beloved indie games are represented.

Or maybe you just played a 5% of the game and your criteria is sometimes as special as you. :P

I couldn't even be bothered to complete all levels in the demo, because the premise of the game is so annoying.

Didn´t you had a similar opinion on shovel knight?

9 player co-op platformer? or did I miss understand something watching that youtube vid?

Doesnt really look impressive in terms of gameplay or graphics, but... I could see it being a sort of fun family type game.

Intire family sits down and tries to get through all 100 levels together.

89 metascore for that though, seems abit high.

Yes, is the only game on the console that allows so many players on local multiplayer.

Is this even a WiiU exclusive? Don't really know much about it. Sorry.

Yes, its exclusive.

Oh well. I expect It to be highly ignored in the meantime. But you can expect it to be highly praised by the masses when it comes out on other platforms. About Devil's Third getting all the attention?  Given WiiU exellent track record in regards to exclusives, a lot of people have been waiting a long time for the first sign of blood. Now they can feel a bit less insecure about the exclusives of their system. Please understand.

Im not really into party games. Anything with more than 2 players, playing together side by side, on the same screen.... yeah not a fan.

I prefer platformers to be single player experiances, where you just take turns, with the controller.

This game would be a rated alot lower, if you just factored into the single player experiance (like maybe a 4-5/10, instead of 8/10)
Basically its a party game, thats a platformer. Thats what its being rated as, luckly it works well that way.

Kinda. Shovel Knight managed to touch greatness, but at the same time it also had levels which sucked. It's a very inconsistent experience with a few design flaws. But Runbow is lame, period.

In other words, if I had played a demo of Shovel Knight (there wasn't one avaiable, but let's say hypothetically the first level of the game was playable), then I wouldn't have had an issue with the review scores because they would have been in line with the quality of the demo. Of course, that opinion would have changed after I played the full game. On the other hand, I never thought Runbow would get good scores, let alone great ones.

That´s funny, I always thought it would be a sleeper hit on the Eshop, we still don´t know if it´s a hit but this is the right start, that´s for sure.

I always respect your opinion but honestly what I have seen of this game looks too fun to be lame, looks like a great party game and the music is awesome. Maybe you should play it with more people in order to have a better picture of the experience or maybe is not your thing, I dunno, I still have to wait until I can play the game and give a proper opinion.

And Journey would also be rated lower if it didn't have online.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Some people actually like local/online multiplayer.

This review seems to think the singleplayer is better anyway.

Good for them! I love the idea of featuring characters from various indie games too. The one thing that saddens me is that this game is a 2D version of a game I conceptualized and have been working on for about 4 years now. When I eventually release my game, people may just call it a 3D version of Runbow. (The link is in my sig)

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

Those of you that didn't like the demo, did you play it together with someone? I played 2 player and thought it was a lot of fun, can imagine it will be even better with a couple more runners. Will definitively pick this up somewhere down the road
