Forums - Gaming - Sony's Steinberg: We'll be marketing GTAIV as well.

Could Sony advertise directly that they're the only company getting GTA4 with free multiplayer? Just thought of that as something they might use to counteract the DLC thing.

But MS may put the DLC stuff so only gold members can download it, like they have done in the past with stuff on XBL. This would then force people to pay $60 just to have the chance to buy the DLC which will be around 50-60 dollars..

No shiet, market GTA wow did not see that coming.

For once, review scores are critical. Any differences between the platforms will be critiqued, and will make a HUGE difference. This will translate to word of mouth, which will translate to sales.

If the 360 version is even .1 -- .2% better than the PS3 version - they could outsell 2:1 or better. If its the other way around, sales may be closer to 1:1.

Its possibly, one of the most intriguing things this year in the industry (relative sales of GTA across 360/PS3).

i think gta iv can move some ps2 owners to upgrade to a ps3.

most played previous gta games on their ps2, and if there looking to buy gta iv, theyll prolly buy a ps3, a sony console.

I wouldn´t bet on it, the average consumer isn´t as loyal as you think, they see an ad that states "Only complete GTA4 experiance with huge content comming only for the 360" they might just say "Screw Sony I want the complete version." Customers are such hores, they see a cheaper 360 with more content so they might just go for that. Then again some will want to stay loyal to Sony for other games... so its hard to tell.

I don't know. Consumers will have to get the $350 model if they want DLC. No way its fitting on those itty bitty memory cards.

I bet M$ will try to trick the consumer into thinking the DLC is extra content that comes with it.

I bet you anthing there will be no mention of the "extra" content costing $10 or whatever it is. Only the educated consumers will know of this.

yea i saw that video, and he was stressing the content so much.

i do think it will sell more on the 360, devil may cry ps3 sold more than the 360 all thanks to japan. but i think gta is a different story.

in grand theft auto's case, if someone owns both consoles, it would be pointless to buy it for the ps3.

I agree. I own both platforms, and the only way I'll buy it for PS3 is if it somehow pulls off some higher ratings. Other than that I'll buy it for 360 for the online with my friends, and the achievements.

I've got to see the Adds before I can judge. The question is are the 360 adds going to clearly convey the fact that the 360 version will have more content, or will they say something vague like "The definitive version."

Will Sony find a way to spin their commercials to make it sound like they have an advantage and the better version of the game? (Perhaps by hitting on Xbox live costing money?)

The adds will decide it in my mind.

There has only ever been timed exclusivity for gold members, with the difference being about a week or so.  Also, to my knowledge, that is only for free content - they'll let anyone pay them to download stuff, gold member or not.
