Forums - Nintendo - NX: How Do You Feel About Scalable Games + Controller With LCD display (again)

Seems like the disc drive discussion kinda overshadowed everything, perhaps we could have a discussion thread about two of the other revelations that seem to stem from that patent, which to me are more interesting anyway. Assuming that patent applies to the NX then:

1.) The NX controller has an LCD screen on it

2.) The NX can automatically check the game and scale it up or down, which hints again very strongly at the idea of shared home/portable games that simply scale up or down based on hardware.

Thoughts on these possible revelations?

item # 1 - would that be a NX handheld if it is a fusion thing? if it is for the home console as well, it would be an updated gamepad. But I doubt, since Nintendo admit about how the gamepad's reception was for the Wii U.
item # 2 - i'm good with scale down graphics. I've been playing games on my PC not on ultra settings, so I'm fine having both type of resolutions.

1. I don't really care. EDIT: I don't really care that the screen is LCD, but I forgot that people actually thought there was a chance there wouldn't be a screen at all. With that in mind, I called that, so I'm not surprised. I've gone in great detail in other threads as to why it was obvious that the NX would keep the second screen for months.

2. I called this, so I'm not surprised.

How do I feel? Great? This is exactly what I wanted. And what was obviously going to happen.

I was wondering for Splatoon 2 how they would retain the touchscreen/map interface for people who owned the NX but didn't have the portable NX to go with it. I guess if the console NX has a screen on it too, that may very well take care of that.

I don't think the NX controller (console) even if does have a screen on it will look anything like the Wii U tablet though. I think Nintendo realized that design is too bulky/goofy looking.

If they are using those Sharp custom shaped LCDs for this, then they could have a circular shaped screen, or even a screen underlay that's the shape of a Pro Controller. That might be kinda cool, if you turn the controller on and the whole thing lights up underneath and has a display there.

The patent says display unit. Does that equal LCD screen or could it something smaller just to showcase info (calls, messages, etc.)?

Nah. I think the screen will still be square. The controller will just be Vita sized and have the batmarang shape of a standard controller. Somebody made a thread about it weeks ago.

Does Nintendo know that people have something called a "Television" ?

what if the display unit just means the handheld device, that it has a screen and the handheld can function as a controller for the home console version of the NX.

NX= Nintendo Cross, meaning cross platform gaming

It may not be a full sized LCD display, could be just a smaller one in the middle I suppose.

Could be like this too

But imagine the above with the same shape as a controller like this:

That would explain Nintendo's deal with Sharp for free form LCD displays (though it could be for QoL too).

I want this console with launch titles like zelda wii u and super mario 64-2
that's how I feel about the nx
