I can't help but think that my post has fallen upon deaf ears... I repeat, you cannot launch in new regions with no product, and Nintendo has made clear their intention to launch in new regions (including China) during the coming fiscal year. Do you really expect them to take the entire stock they produce for one month for the rest of the world, and dedicate it entirely to the newly introduced regions at the expense of existing ones? How well do you suppose it'd be taken if the Wii was quite literally entirely unavailable for a whole month in all regions save the most recently introduced? That would be such bad PR that I find it inconceivable that anybody is complaining about the stockpiling for launch in other countries.

Also, no matter how high demand is for the Wii, of course you'll never see a perfect match of product sold and product shipped. Demand is not perfectly equal in all regions; there are areas (mostly along the coast of less popular states like Oregon and Washington) where the systems actually stay on the shelf for days or even weeks.

I'm terribly sorry that you cannot comprehend basic economic principles, DMeisterJ. Perhaps, one day, you will come to understand the difference between units produced and units sold. Until that time comes, I highly recommend you take a course on microeconomics.

Yep, you don't get it. I mean really don't get it. As if you have some sort of fantasy reality where products produced are instantly put on store shelves, and instantly sell, and are always perfectly allocated in all regions to perfectly sell out without fail, and new units mystically generate themselves upon release of a product into a new region to accomodate for the need of a healthy stock of product to sell. Reality is not reflective of this fairy tale concept. Please abandon it.

Maybe they're not stockpiling for X-Mas but for:
Brawl (we'll know soon), Mario Kart, Wii Fit.

So keep that in mind before claiming that they're not producing 1.8m a month.

Reggie said that they are producing 1.8million wii's a month, if they are all sold out, vgchartz might have undertracked the wii. Or maybe demand is starting to decrease?

Either way I know this may be somewhat off topic though I believe John Lucas is Reggie.
