I hope it gets released, but if they were to abandon it in favour of mobile games, I would understand it.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It's coming up on almost 3 years since QoL was announced (Jan 2014). So I think something is up that we haven't really even had a formal product unveiling.

Even those patents, while they were only made public recently, they were filed in October 2014 ... so almost two years ago.

I'm not sure. I think this will still come out, but it also seems it's clearly hit a snag somewhere.

It's quite possible that Nintendo internally has shifted focus on smartphone games to expand company revenue rather than the untested QoL, remember in Jan 2014 Nintendo hadn't yet decided to make smartphone games.

It's also possible that they've opted to focus more on NX as well.

Ur timeline is a bit off, Jan 2014 is just slightly over 1.5 years ago, not almost 3 and Oct 2014 is less than a year, not almost 2.

It was also in Feb (6 months ago) that Iwata last talked about QoL, stating that the next step after health would be education, it was the following month that the DeNA partnership, mobile venture and NX were all mentioned so that along with Iwata's passing has overshadowed QoL over the last few months.

It could very well be delayed but nothing yet suggests that they have abandoned it, I think we could hear about it again and the next Investor Briefing which I believe is in October.
