It didnt have horrible control, you just needed a lot more time getting used to. I felt the same way when i started playing but now i dont like playing with a regular control.

why no love for Metroid Prime 2?

Is it because of the difficulty?

I would say I do enjoy it more than Metroid Prime 1. I love the huge boss battles in it and the logevity of them.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Metroid Fusion are my 2 faves, but every game in the series is good.

Metroid II

The first metroid that i've played and the best.
Super Metroid is great too

Super Metroid is my pick for the best. Zero Mission is pretty damned awesome, though, especially if you had played the NES original all those years ago...

The Metroid series is perhaps of the most consistently high quality in all of gaming history.

Metroid Prime Hunters

Super Metriod. Non-linear Gameplay and advanced techniques (wall jump, shinespark, speedball, etc.) for the win.

Fusion, because it seriously cuts down on the backtracking the series is known for. You can gripe about "linear" all you want, but I swear that "non-linear gameplay" in MetroidVania games is just code word for, "fighting through areas you've already been through five times with respawning enemies."

Super Metroid is the clear winner here, not that the other games aren't good, it's just that Super Metroid was so good that it deserves to be in the top ten games ever made list.
