Sony Unveils Limited Range of Metal Gear Solid V Smartphones and Tablets

PlayStation Japan has today unveiled a full range of limited edition Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain-themed Xperia smartphones and tablets.

To coincide with the highly anticipated title’s launch next month, Sony has teamed up with game publisher Konami to offer the gadgets for sale exclusively to consumers in Japan. Each comes complete with a special cover, pre-installed original MGS5 wallpapers, and selected songs from the game’s soundtrack.

Pre-orders are open now for the MGS-branded Xperia J1, Z4 and Z3, plus the Walkman NW-ZX2 and NW-A16 – all of which will launch alongside Metal Gear Solid V in Japan on September 2.

What a waste. Sony needs to drop these crap google devices, and get back to working on innovating the mobile market. This tie in would be much more effective if it was attached to a 4G that brought Remote Play anywhere, anytime. Then it would at least be on a device you can actually play the freaking game on, remote play on Xperia unplayable.

Hope this ends up in the discount bins 18 mouths from now, and Sony never does something so stupid again.
