Not enough guns in Japanese games for some people

More like not enough quality gameplay or game mechanics since most Japanese games still feel like they belong on PS2,which is one of the problems I have.I will get P5,but the game is not the leap it should be when compared to other games.

What are you talking about? Western games often times are inferior in the gameplay mechanics, they have no bosses and if its just QTE then. Just look at the last of us, it had like only 3 different enemies in the whole game, no bosses. And that was viewed as some kind of example how games should be by western media.

I am no longer into either, because they are repetitive, predictable, unoriginal, cheesy, always use the same archetypes and only appeal to teenagers with the exception of BB,MGS and RE.Basically I have outgrown Japanese style of gaming like most people I know, but I will watch Attack On Titan in the future and will get back to reading Berserk.

I have beaten uncharted 2 recentley and i found it very repetive and unoriginal with a generic balded villain at the end. And that game is claimed as some masterpiece by broad gaming community. It was full of stereotypes and cliches,

What megaman for example have to do with anime? Two diferent things.

Look at the character designs of megaman many anime artwork, Anime is just a term for japanese animation which can mean any animation made in japan

Come. Sit here, with me, my child.

Besides, not all games need bosses, doesn't matter if they're western or japanese. That doesn't make a game more or less good. Sleeping Dogs didn't have any "boss" (aside, I guess, from the knife guy almost at the end, but that's just a large combat) and that game is brilliant.

It has a virus it could easily have bosses just like resident evil always had. I see a lot of people bitching about resident evil 6 but that game at least had bosses.

But just because it can, doesn't mean it has to. In fact...

Resident Evil 6 is a great game, but they got waaaaaay too carried away with the bosses there. Very bad example. It doesn't benefit a game that the same boss keeps coming back over and over and over, even though he can metamorph into some crazy shit.

For fuck sake, this dude was stupidly annoying.

Because they are different things. /thread

I honestly don't think the answer is that simple. Nearly all of the things that draw people to one of the two exists in both. To say you like one while hating the other is contractidory if you like the two mediums as a whole (Television/movies and video games).

First off, let's take out the hate part, because nobody mentioned anything about hating either.

Now, nearly all of the things?  That is a pretty vast overgeneralization.  There may be some similarities or there may not be depending on the particular game and anime.  Something like Serial Experiments has very little in common with a game like Splatoon.

I don't what "all of the things" are, but there are many things that are in one that are not necessarily in another.  Can you compare the storytelling of something like Death Note to the storytelling in Kirby's Epic Yarn?  The art style of Dragon Ball Z to the art style of paper Mario?  Did you get stuck on the fight between Goku and Vegeta when you were watching Dragonball Z because you couldn't beat it?  Did you have to grind in Naruto?  (Well maybe all that filler could be considered grinding).

I could go on, but that'd be pointless.  People like things for all different reasons.  Just because I like Japanese games does not mean I have to like Anime even if they have some similarities (and no they do not have nearly all of the same qualities).  Liking one anime doesn't even mean I have to like any other anime.  They're different things.

Why in the world would you compare Death note to Kirby and lain to Splatoon?

The implication is never that being interested in one anime makes you interested into all Japanese games (especially considering that demographics are entirely off with the games you're comparing). Especially considering that several of the creators of both work on both. Why would a fan of Steins;Gate not be a fan of its visual novel or similar sci-fi visual novels? Why would a fan of DBZ not being interested in DBZ or other over the top action games? The elements that draw people into anime, feature predominantly in Japanese games, because they're aiming at the same demographic.

Obviously there are exceptions, but I do feel that there's a lot of crossover by design. If you feel differently, I bet I could point you to something that you may enjoy that you haven't tried.

I brought up those examples to show that there is not necessarily any similarity between games and Anime.

Why wouldn't a fan of Dragonball Z be interested in DBZ games?  Because they're entirely different experiences.  I like DBZ, but I have disliked most DBZ games.

Why wouldn't they like over the top games?  Because just because they like a show where "over the top" is one characteristic doesn't mean they like everything that is over the top, or even most things that over the top.

I watch anime (less than I used to) and I play Japanese games (much moreso than I watch anime).  And they simply are not the same experience.  Even if we're dealing with DBZ and DBZ games, they're simply not the same experience.  They may have some similaritites, but they are bound to also have many differences.  I'll grant that someone who is interested in one would be more likely to enjoy the other, but there is no reason that they have to, or they are very likely to.

Because the alure of a waifu is strong

And because anime in general has a higher standard on average than Japanese games which are, for the most part, utter shite.

No, most western indies are shite, the japanese games at least are in 3D and people are willing to pay 50$ over some 20$ western indie.

I think its a phony thing do choosing your profile pic just because of cosmetics, i dont like these types of people

Japanese anime = Mostly well written and equally well translated.

Japanese games = Dismally written from the outset. No hope for translation.
