Xbox+Nintendo =  <3  love

Well if MS made the hardware and Nintendo developed games for said box... then yeah that would be pretty beastly

Why can't you trust the guy, everything needs to have second intentions?:c

Maybe because it's PR and his job is to sell Xboxes.

But he is still a gamer, and gamers play games.

Both Shuhei Yoshida and Phil Spencer have given the Wii U and Nintendo in general praise because neither Sony nor Microsoft see the Wii U as a serious competitor in the home console space (and since Sony has semi-tacitly given up on the Vita, this is arguably the only console space where they compete anymore). If either of them were to try to attack the Wii U, it could possibly be seen as bad publicity. I think we're only now seeing Microsoft being so overtly positive towards the Wii U because it is now evident that the XB1 is selling much better than the Wii U, which wasn't as apparent a year ago.

Rest assured, if the NX does phenomenally and poses a significant threat to either the PS4 or the XB1, you won't see Spencer or Yoshida praising the NX like this.

Phil already said congrats with Sony many time. More than with Nintendo.

I only partially believe him.

While it's clear that he, or anyone, would love to have IP they could monetize the way Nintendo can Mario and Pokemon, it's also clear that Playstation is the model he's using for Xbox. He's already indicated that he wants to build diversity with his first-party line-up and that he basically wants his own Uncharted. In the past, it could probably be said that Xbox is to shooters what Nintendo is to platformers, which is something I think he wants to get away from.

Regardless, Nintendo isn't going to be Spencer's model for Xbox, I'm pretty sure.

Last year he had some nice things to say about Nintendo while they were ahead of them http://wiiudaily.com/2014/01/phil-spencer-on-nintendo-ip/

are they trying to buy Nintendo again?

Everybody is either a kid or a squid... you can't avoid that: deal with it! :P

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I don't know why but I picture this man being terrible at videogames in general. Kinda like Reggie. Pretty face but useless at the battleground.
