Forums - Microsoft - Phil Spencer: I honestly don't goal the team on how many units Sony sells

To sacrifice the long term for any short term gain doesn't make any sense."

...Sell consoles? Right, that's why they're practically giving them away for free with a Samsung TV for $500 lol. So I wonder how much money did they actually lose per sale from this?

Your saying this is Microsoft.. It's a Best Buy only sale..   You are assuming this has ANYTHING to do with Microsoft..  if it did.. I feel like they would be selling on Microsoft.com ..     This could be Samsung or Best Buy taking the hit here..    why do you assume Microsoft?

What did he say last year?

Seems winning the gen isn't on the agenda anymore

Funny thing was that almost exactly one year got to the day.

It does matter since MS is not making money from the 360 enough to cover what they are losing with the X1 and the PS3 is still selling better than the 360 globally anyway, but both are old consoles and should be forgotten.

what?

1. MS is not loosing money with XB1
2. PS3 is not selling better globally.

But if the Ps3 is selling better than X360, this would be even more beneficial for MS, because Xb1 is at over 15 million in that case ;)

They lost 400 million on Xbox in 2014.

Lol I remember this kind of partnership being done by Sony as much as MS. Buy a Sony TV get a PS3, but a computer get an Xbox 360... Here in Canada Best Buy gives an X1 when you purchase a Surface Pro but it costs 1899$. So when Sony does the same will we get the same reaction?

Best Buy is probably just trying to clear warehouse space and giving away all the old Xbones like Day 1 editions and everything they have stacked up that no one is buying.

Except no.. The only one in stock at most stores is the new Halo: MCC edition..    No stores around me have had the Assasins bundle in months..  But it is sold online..  They do NOT have DAY ONE editions.. ONLINE or IN STORE..    The DEAL includes ONLY the Halo:MCC and Assassins Bundles..

Read his post again and work out why your reply is wrong.

Clues,

Sony, Microsoft, not, comparing

&

Phil, Spencer, comment, contradiction

Yeah, so they're giving away old stuff.

Nope.. This was incorrect reporting..  Forbes started it.. and backtracked on it..  We don't have an exact way to figure out profit or losses by division. As they don't report it so we can.

What a change of attitude from this

"
“This year will be the largest in the history of the video game industry, with Xbox 360 leading the charge in the U.S. and abroad,” said Don Mattrick, senior vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle. We are uniquely positioned to set a new benchmark for the industry.”
