I assume you died inside the "pipes", where you have to steer yourself to the 'hatch' at the bottom? I tried to make it so it would be somewhat predictable, with the path of coins and the arrow at the first one. It seems it's still a bit of a surprise due to the exits being off screen then. I try to make things the least 'trail and error' as possible, I'll keep these comments in mind.
It seems like everyone finds the shortcut before they find the real route on the Clown Car level lol. Following the blue platforms up leads to the shortcut which indeed skips the second Clown Car part. Following them to the right was supposed to be the normal way to go. Anyway, I did a better job in my third level, I doubt many will find the second exit there during the first run, so I learned, and in fact, there's actually three possibilities.
