Forums - Gaming - Witcher 3 - Ocean West of Velen?

So I played alot Witcher 3 in the past month but there was always one thing that made no sense for me.

If you go straight to the west in Velen, a big sea/River will appear. On the Other side will still be terrestrial though. You can see it here:

You can see a new continent/island left in the picture.

But if i check the overall Witcher 3 Map like this:

Or this:

That landmass shouldnt exist at all. There should be a big ocean?

Is this a mistake made by the developer or didnt i got anything? What Island/Country should this be? it cant be skellige, scince thats FAR away. So which country is in west of Velen??

Yeah it should be. But if you go to the full west in Velen, you will notice there is a big landmass across the "ocean", "river" or whatever. Also on my first map picture you could see it left on the picture.

ah now i see what part your talking about. well maybe its an error? its not on the map during the game or on the map given out with the game its self, so its not really an issue IMO

I think it's due to odd compression of the map to fit the game's world. I though it was Skellige at first but that doesn't so much have one big mass as it is several smaller and a couple of semi-large islands and reefs.

Sure its not a big issue but still its curios why they did that.

If you go in the game to the "westcoast" you will be able too see it even in the game. You cant go there, scince they will tell you something like "here are dragons, turn back" if you try to across the sea, but you can see the landmass with all its treeas and co in the actual game.

Here is a better picture for all those who didnt got what I mean:

Need a reader of the books to enlighten us. Not sure what that landmass is either.

Hopefully it is another region. Wouldn't mind starting another game on another continent as a witcher from a school we've yet to hear of.
