Forums - Microsoft - Kotaku: Unfortunately, Quantum Break looks a bit rubbish

Well, one Kotaku article sure could have been clickbait or personal vendetta, but it seems that guy is not alone.
This really does remind of The Order - first warning signs came 6-8 months prior to release, but we (I personally as well) refused to believe it. It looked so great, producers talked a good talk, the premise was ultra-interesting. Then more negatives came, I still insisted that they are clueless, then the game released, I played it....and thought that those reviewers were actually lenient considering how much I was disappointed (to use a euphemism there).

Not saying that QB will be The Order-sized crap, but I think people need to heed these warning signs, where's smoke there's bound to be at list a tiny fire.
Perhaps there is still time to fix what's (if it is) broken if Remedy is open to criticism.

The order was better than I expected after all the negative reviews. Yeah the story was below average, but the gunplay was actually fun (when it finally allowed you to play with the guns) and the visuals amazing. If only it had had some memorable characters and a better story.

Bring the hype back down for QB and it might be better than expected when you finally get to play it. It can't live up to the hype it's been given for the past couple years. The time effects still look fun to play with, hopefully it will involve some puzzle elements like Braid.

Oh well hurry up with QB and continue with Alan Wake 2 :) Alan Wake was pretty good, close to great, all it needed was a bit more survival and feeling vulnerable. You were too over powered, which seems to be a complaint cropping up for QB too now :/

All criticism is illegitimate when it's about something you want / hope will be great and a saviour to your favourite platform.

Kotaku is shit because it had the gall to criticise something it actually experienced. But people here are legit because the idea of Quantum Break is too awesome for anyone to have a legitimate reason to not like it.

I don't get all the hate for this article.

Victimology. Criticism of a thing is criticism of me, because I strongly identify with the thing. Therefore criticism of the thing is mean and wrong, regardless of the merits of the criticism. We all do it to one degree or another, be it a phone brand, an ideology, a nation, a console, a music genre. If you criticise this then then it means you hate me, so that means I hate you.

It's kinda funny that we criticise and complain about gaming media sucking up to the gaming industry, but then when someone pokes their head up and criticises something people rush in to beat them down and tell them they're wrong, and biased and motivated purely for website traffic.

The article has a lot of good points. From the gameplay I saw, it looked like a dull generic TPS that really doesn't do anything special. The time slow abilities look like they will be overpowered, and can be used to frequently. I know that in the official 6 minute demo, they turn everything up so they can more easily showcase abilities, but based on what I saw of the gameplay on IGN, the bar looks like you'd basically have to be using abilities literally constantly in order to run out. I don't know, it just doesn't look special, and the TV series will likely be more of a nuisance than anything.

F off, kotaku.

I don't understand the controversy.

The controlled footage made a good first impression. When they finally get the hands on experience, it didn't leave the same impression.

the 1886 shoe is on the other foot and people are reacting in the equal opposite manner, no real surprises here.

Kotaku: <negative 1886 article>
xbf: Haha so true!
psf: No the games great, theyre just looking for hits!

Kotaku: <negative qb article>

Most of the criticism seems very empty. For example he complains about the game having special enemies who are immune to your time abilities. Thats like... a staple of any action game with a heavy combat focus.

The games may be similar in that you can watch them both.

Also, this is the most attention a QB thread on VGC has ever received!

Having to wait 20 minutes while being bored is trivial now?
