Victimology. Criticism of a thing is criticism of me, because I strongly identify with the thing. Therefore criticism of the thing is mean and wrong, regardless of the merits of the criticism. We all do it to one degree or another, be it a phone brand, an ideology, a nation, a console, a music genre. If you criticise this then then it means you hate me, so that means I hate you.
It's kinda funny that we criticise and complain about gaming media sucking up to the gaming industry, but then when someone pokes their head up and criticises something people rush in to beat them down and tell them they're wrong, and biased and motivated purely for website traffic.
