Pokemon,  and Yokai, are Handheld games so this is another Market, Dragon Quest, sell and aways sold Close or even more than Final Fantasy, so this is not any News and you are Using  Data from What ? Final Fantasy, dont have a Main game for over 7 Years, try to Compare the Playstation 4, sales of the next Main Dragon Quest, with the next Main Final Fantasy.


                                   

 



 

I prefer looking at this in a more objective way, so there is no way I´ll follow some PS centric logic which defies reality.
Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are quite established and old RPG IPs in Japan. In fact both were created back in the NES/Famicom days and are still relevant to this day.

SNES/SuperFamicom
Playstation
Playstation 2

Dragon Quest had on the listed systems/generation always the highest selling entry of the two IPs in the same generation in Japan. Last generation both IPs didn´t have for the first time an entry on the same system. Anyway, the result ended up beeing the same, last gen Dragon Quest had again the better selling entry compared to Final Fantasy. With DQ9 actually beeing the most successful Dragon Quest game ever, while FF13 ended up to be one of the weaker new entries of the main series in Japan, since PS1 mainly thanks to PS3.

DQ11 will again lead to the same result, as in having the highest selling new entry compared to Final Fantasy in this generation, maybe not the PS4 version, because unlike FF15 it´s actually also available on a not dead system like XBone (when it comes to Japan), but most likely the 3DS version that will surely absorb the majority of the interest in DQ11.

So currently being talked about on GAF is the top best selling games in Japan for 2016. Many predictions coming in for ffxv and it's all between 1mil-1.5mil!

Wamted to date what everyone's current thoughts are. Splatoon is currently around 1.45mil now with a least another 200k sales for the rest of the year.

My guess is FFXV should sell over 2 million in Japan, assuming it's good.

No not really. Its not like they are going to make a standard bundle for an entire year for it. Also funny how that market bugdet for FFXV is so high and still cant compete with splatoon huh? Lol

DQ has nothing to do with FF bro. Also DQ will kill it in sales. Both 3ds and ps4 version will sell very well. Probably 3.5mil to 4.5mil lifetime

yeah no doubt about DQ would outsell XV but they need to lower their expectation regarding Ps4 version of software after XV flop so hard, and at western might be tricky the possibility 3ds version end up selling more in the west is exist.
